Always Been Mine (18 page)

He pushed off me and I opened for him, digging my heels into the bed. He grabbed my hips, but instead of pulling them up to him, he pushed me down into the bed. His mouth descended and I gasped as I felt his tongue on the inside of my thigh. Moving from my thigh, he hovered directly over my very exposed folds and aimed a hot breath at me, making me moan.

Thankfully, he didn’t tease me like I had done to him. I dug fingers into his hair and lost all conscious thought as his tongue attacked me, circling my clit, mouth sucking at me. He was amazing in bed, but this… this was unbelievable. His tongue deserved an Oscar for the performance. I bucked against him, pleading for what he was so ready to give me, begging him for more, telling him how much I loved him and what he did to me. Oh. My. God. I didn’t want him to ever stop.

He backed away, leaving me hanging on the edge. “I was so close,” I managed to pant. So, so close. He sat up on his knees, sliding my entire body down the bed to him and flipped me onto my stomach, pulling at my hair, forcing me onto my knees in front of him.

His body moved into mine, rock solid as fingers dug into my hips and he yanked me up, so that we were both on our knees, me against his chest. “The noises you make drive me fuckin’ crazy,” he growled against my neck before biting my skin.

He slid one hand up my stomach to my breasts, tormenting my nipples, making me gasp and cry out. The other hand drifted south, gently slapping the spot where his mouth had just been, sending pleasure rippling through my body. “Uuuuggghhh. Fuck!”

He laughed, a slow sexy sound. “You are so fucking wet, Jo.” I trembled against him, biting my lip. One of his hands closed around a nipple, rolling it between rough fingers. The other hand cupped me, fingers moving into the folds to massage my sensitive clit with a slow, steady pressure. My head flopped back onto his shoulder because I couldn’t support myself anymore. It gave him more skin to feast on, and within seconds, I was digging at his arms and biting the insides of my cheeks to keep from screaming.

The bastard laughed again. “Like that?” His breath was hot in my ear. I couldn’t respond. “Bend over, put your ass in the air.” He was growling. “I am going to fuck you hard.”

He moved us with lightning speed, pushing me over, cheek to the bed, and he was between my legs, groaning as he pushed into me. I cried out, both from how fucking amazing his dick felt, and also in frustration. I had been so close again. I gripped the quilt tightly, trying to hold on as he drove us both wild, his fingers gliding from my nipple and digging into my hip as if he didn’t ever want to let me go. He moved hard and fast, unrelenting against my sensitive flesh.

He felt amazing and I couldn’t stay quiet even if I wanted to; every noise I made seemed to penetrate his being, making him pound into me harder. I bit the quilt in front of me, turning my face into the mattress to muffle my screams.

“I wanna hear you, Jo!” The hand around my waist moved to my hair, yanking my head up away from the bed. He continued to drive into me, demanding in a breathless growl, “I told you, I want you beneath me, screaming my name when you lose control. Tell me what you want.”

I didn’t think, just begged. “I wanna come Matty. God, please make me come!”

Instantly I was on my back, spread-eagled, and his mouth was on me. The noises he was making were hot and something you’d hear from someone devouring a sinful desert, the same he’d tried to contain when I was going down on him. I vaguely felt the hands gripping my hips, holding me still as he increased both the speed and pressure of his tongue and then I was there, my entire body stiffening, calling out his name as I came apart.

I wanted to sleep, to drift off into oblivion. Matty, however, wasn’t ready to let me go. He was up on his knees, moving into me again, lifting my hips to meet him. The man had stamina, I’d give him that. His steady thrusts left him gasping for breath but he didn’t slow. Finally recovered, I raked my fingernails over his shoulders, moving with him. He started to curse, and leaned forward, closing his teeth over my shoulder, as if to quiet himself. The move quieted him some, but I could hear his ecstasy perfectly. The sounds he continued to make, mixed with the earth shattering movements, were my undoing and I cried out as I came again.

“Come, baby!” he commanded, “Let. Go. Come.” The voice next to my ear was quiet, but full of desire. I felt him tense, as both hands entwined with mine. He held them as if his life depended on it. “Good Christ, Jo!” He pushed into me once more and then groaned before he tipped us onto our sides. We laid there, still connected with his arms wrapped tightly around me, my cheek pressed tightly against his shoulder for what seemed like forever. When he finally did move, he pulled away from me gently, and was gone for just a second before coming back with a blanket and pulling my head onto his chest.

I sat up, suddenly, putting my hand on his belly. “We didn’t have dessert or close the hot tub!”

He pulled me back down onto him, chuckling. “I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love you, Jo.”

Twenty
One

I woke up cold and uncomfortable. One of the wires from my bra digging into my side painfully. I scooted off the bed, hoping not to wake snoring beauty. Glancing out the window I realized that the glow I could see wasn’t the sun coming up, just the lights of the city. I stretched, trying to work out the kinks in my neck. Grabbing my sweats, I headed for the shower.

I came out a half-hour later completely refreshed. Matty was still sleeping and while part of me wanted to sit in the chair and watch him, or curl up next to him and wake him in a not so subtle way, I needed coffee. Matty hadn’t shown me around the kitchen, but I could run to the nearest Dunkin. Except, I realized, I wouldn’t be able to get back in. Hmm. Guess I’d snoop until I found what I needed.

I was only slightly out of breath when I made it up to the top floor and mentally congratulated myself as I walked through the archway. A black figure moving in the dimly lit space made me jump. He was just as startled to see me, and swore loudly.

I smiled at his choice of words. “Good morning to you, too!”

He snickered. “Someone seems happy this morning. Good night?” I felt my face flush, but he either couldn’t see me well enough to notice or didn’t care. Holding up a cup he asked, “Coffee Lil’ Kangaroo?”

“Yes! Thanks.” I slid into a chair on the back side of the island, watching him as he brewed me a k-cup. He was wearing a pair of sweatpants and a baggy tee, but his shoulders seemed to sag and from what I could see, he looked exhausted. Guilt flooded over me; I hadn’t been exactly quiet, and neither had Matty. I looked around the room, wondering if the walls were thick enough so he hadn’t heard us. “We, ugh… we didn’t keep you awake did we?”

Rob laughed at that. “From the roof? Nah. I doubt even
Matt’s that good.” I laughed with him, not correcting him. “You always up this early?” I nodded and he yawned. “No wonder you two work well, I’m surprised lazy bones isn’t up yet.” He handed me the black coffee and I sipped at the hot liquid.

“I’m surprised you two don’t have a mini gym. There doesn’t happen to be one in the basement does there?” I asked hopeful.

“Nope. Rob hates to exercise.” Matty, wearing nothing but a pair of running shorts hanging dangerously low, strutted across the room toward me. I stared, still half shocked every time I saw his colorful torso. “Besides, it’s dark and creepy down there. It’s like the dungeon’s dungeon. We’ve a ton of underground parking, though, ‘cause coming home in the middle of the night and walkin’ through Dracula’s crypt is exactly what every sane person wants to do.” He laughed, adding, “Good morning, beautiful!” in a hushed tone before he leaned in to kiss me. “I missed you when I woke up.” Turning back to his friend, he asked if Rob had closed the hot tub.

Rob, on his way out of the room, paused long enough to give me a wink, assuring Matty he had. Seeing my glare as realization dawned on me, he laughed and walked away. “How’d Rob know we weren’t upstairs?”

Matty took the seat beside me and shrugged. “I texted him.”
Oh, my god. We had kept him awake! Ugh.
Matty gave me a weird look as he reached for my coffee. “Wanna go for a run? Or maybe we could get a different workout in?” I grinned at him. Did he even have to ask?

The day flew by. Matty and I laughed our way through all of Boston’s tourist traps. I realized just how much I missed my kids when we breezed through the aquarium on our way to Faneuil Hall Marketplace. I found a quiet spot and called, just to hear their voices. They were still having a blast but missed me, a fact that made me sad.

Matty bought me a chowder bowl for lunch, just to cheer me up, even though he thought eating chowder in late summer went against nature. He did give in and had a few bites, but only after I begged him to share. I was feeling much better when we got back to the apartment later in the afternoon.

“Well, look who the cat finally dragged back home.” The lazy voice drawled at us as soon as we were off the elevator. I’d barley taken two steps into the foyer when her arms wrapped around me, pulling me into a tight embrace. Crissia was the last person on earth I’d expected to hug me. Matty’s little sister and I had always been friendly, but she was not the touchy feely type. Unless, it was with her brother, whom she was clinging to now. I shook my head, noticing once again how much they looked alike.

Crissia, pronounced Ca-riss-ah as Matty told me before I met her, wasn’t as tall as her brother, but at 5’9, she towered over me. She had his Greek God looks; dark curly brown hair, bright blues, sharp cheekbones, kissable lips that all too often twisted into the same cynical smirk and panty-dropping grin, or in her case, the boxer-dropping smile. She didn’t have the runner’s body, but the thicker, more pronounced, kick-boxer version. There was no denying the two of them were siblings.

He laughed, hugging her back. They exchanged colorful sibling banter before she pulled me downstairs. We were going out with Matty’s friends and she had come early to make sure I looked the part—seeing the clothes and makeup she’d laid all over Matty’s bed, though, made me wonder what exactly that part was. It looked like she had cleaned out Marilyn Manson’s closet.

“Spill!” I turned from the leather mini-skirt I was eyeing suspiciously. Cris smiled and demanded, “How in the hell did you get him away from the sea witch?”

I laughed. “We should totally call her Ursula from now on.” It was fitting. I sighed. “I didn’t. Not really. We just…” I stopped, staring at her. How do I explain what happened? “We got drunk and slept together.”

She laughed. Hysterically. When she finally composed herself, she gave me a giant smile. “How’d she take that?” I shook my head. Huh. I didn’t know. “If I’da known that was all it would take, I woulda got you two drunk years ago. Jesus, watchin’ him mope over you for the last ten yeahs was enough to sweah me off love for good.”

I chuckled. “Matty never moped over me, silly, and ten years ago he was with Becky. But, thanks for the thought.”

She gave me a pointed look. “Ugh, yeah I know he was with Bex. But, he was in love with you before that. Not that he’d change anythin’, ‘cause he’s got Sammy. Wait, did he really not tell you?” She moved over the piles of clothes and sat on the bed, crossing her legs in front of her. “You really didn’t know?  Hmm.” She pursed her lips and tipped her head the same way her brother did when trying to figure out something perplexing. “We gotta get ready, or the boys’ll leave without us.” She grabbed the little skirt, holding it out to me. “Go change."

Twenty Two

“Would you stop fidgetin’ already? You look great!” I glared into the giant mirror, giving Cris the evil eye. She ignored

me, smacking her deep red lips together and playing with her hair.

I didn’t feel like I looked great. I felt like a prostitute—and not even an expensive one. I eyed my outfit again. Cris hadn’t backed down from the leather mini idea until I’d insisted I wasn’t leaving unless I was wearing jeans. She’d brought me these; skin tight with the knees, upper thighs and the bottoms of the ass shredded, they were nothing like my comfy denim. They were too tight and too long, but she insisted they were perfect. Cris had paired them with a skimpy bright pink flyaway tank, dangly hoop earrings, two chunky black bracelets, and peep toe hot pink and black stilettos that were so tall I could barely walk in them.

If my ensemble wasn’t enough by itself, my makeup screamed, ‘I charge by the hour!’ My cheek bones were defined, eyes heavily painted, lips glossed to shine, and pink streaks were scattered in my hair. Matty had taken one look at me and informed the group we were going to stay home. His sister had pouted, so he recanted, but had made me promise not to take the highlights out until tomorrow. Apparently pink hair made him horny.

Cris, on the other hand, looked like a model in her leather pants, black skirted corset with a chiffon covered sweetheart bustline, and spike-heeled, leather buckle, ankles boots. Nothing about the outfit seemed out of place on her, and she acted comfortable. It made me wonder if she dressed like this all the time. The boys didn’t look bad, either. They were all dressed normal in black or blue jeans, boots, and tee shirts. But, it was the jackets that set them apart.

I’d laughed when I’d seen the back of Matty’s. “The Bastards—Boston?” The Bastards, M.C. was in large red print arched across the shoulder blades. Boston was much smaller, in the middle of the bottom. Taking up the majority of the back was a silver figure that I couldn’t place; it held two blood-red swords, as if ready to strike. “What are you in a bike gang?” I laughed, finding the whole concept highly amusing.

Rocker stopped moving suddenly, looking from Matty to me, as if trying to figure something out. “Yeah, something like that,” was all Matty said before grabbing my hand. I’d seen that
Wild Hogs
movie, and the fact that my boyfriend was a weekend warrior with a silly name was cute.

“Jo?” Crissia’s voice brought me back to the present. “The boys will be panicking if we don’t go out soon.”

“How are you not sweating your ass off? It’s like forty billion degrees in here!” I fanned a hand in front of my face.

She shrugged. “You get used to it.” Yeah, I was pretty sure I’d never get used to clubbing. Period.

The last few hours had been a blast—dinner with Matty, Cris, Rob, and the boys at Cheers! Followed by drinks at a little biker bar. After the bar closed, Cris convinced the boys to go dancing with us. She said it would be fun to come here—safety in numbers. Rocker had been hesitant, but finally gave in, and we’d walked back to the apartment and gotten the bikes.

There weren’t a lot of us, nine of us on seven motorcycles, but hearing their bikes roar to life and seeing them all in a group, I was impressed. I would definitely be intimidated by this group. They looked rough and mean. Until you heard their playful banter.

When we’d pulled into the club, I’d understood Rocker’s reluctance. The old warehouse was huge. With the amount of people, mostly men, coming in and out, the bass heavy music drifting through the windows and doors, and the lights reflecting in the tar, I would never come here alone. As we headed toward the doors, I noticed the worry etched on Rocker’s face and the stiffness in his movements. He really didn’t want to be here. Tiny, apparently on the same page, had straightened up to his full height and wore an expression that dared someone to mess with him.

Cris, oblivious, headed straight to the front of the line, leaving us no choice but to follow. The bouncer looked at Rocker and the boys and nodded, opening the door. As we stepped through, the bouncer gave me a once over and winked. Rocker stopped and glared. Matty was exactly the opposite, and instead laughed and slapped my ass.

“Jo!” Cris was next to me, staring at me in the mirror, very annoyed. “You look great, really. Can we go dance now?”

As soon as we left the bathroom, I spotted Rocker leaning against the wall in front of the stairs. A woman was flirting with him, but when he saw me, he smiled and stepped away from her. Cris turned to give me an ‘
I told you so’
look. She stopped in front of him. “Did my brother send you or are you so fuckin’ paranoid that we can’t go to the bathroom alone?” She had to yell to be heard over the music, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was some history between the two that I was missing.

Rocker shook his head, eyes narrowing slightly. “I had to piss, so I waited.” His jaw clenched, and I could see him trying to work through his irritation.

“Stalked, more like it.” She shook her head and flounced down the steps. I gave him a small smile and followed her.

Matty didn’t look concerned at all. He was deep in conversation with Sean and Dean, the three of them laughing. Tiny stood, moving so I could slide around him into the chair next to my boy. He handed me a new drink as I sat, offering me a wink. I half listened to the conversation as I looked around the table. All of them had a patch on their vest that said 1%. I had no idea what it meant, but the jackets were pretty cool, and I felt like people avoided us when they saw them, giving us more privacy. Privacy in a place this crowded was nice.

Cris and Rob were talking in hushed tones, and although I couldn’t hear what the words were, it was obvious that they were arguing. Suddenly, she leaned over Tiny, clearly aggravated. “I’m bored. Come dance?” I smiled at Matty and nodded at his sister. She hurried over Rob, not even waiting for him to move, ignoring him when he tried to talk to her. He stood, backing up to give me room, but grabbed my wrist gently leaning into my ear. “If you need us, we’re right here.”

I smiled up at him and pulled his ear toward me. “You don’t look like you’re having fun. Come dance with us?”

He chuckled, shaking his head, and let me go.

Rocker did end up on the dance floor a few times. The first was after a couple of guys moved in to dance with us. They weren’t being obnoxious, just two friends having a good time. I laughed as one grabbed my waist, pulling me into him.

Seconds later, Rocker and Matty appeared, forcing the duo away. We danced to ‘Blurred Lines,’ but Matty’s hands running all over my body made me forget where we were, and I turned, needing to kiss him. We stopped in the middle of the floor, people all around us, and had an impromptu make out session. It was amazing and I wanted to find a quiet place and do a lot more than kiss. Until Cris made a disgusted noise and pulled me away, further into the crowd.

Five or six songs later, Rocker and Hawk brought us water and stayed for a dance. I laughed as they awkwardly danced off the floor—Matty’s friends were funny and very likeable, once they decided to stop hating me.

I don’t know how long we’d been dancing—my feet were killing me and it felt like we’d been there hours—when Cris stopped suddenly and swore. Marching off the floor with a scowl on her face, I had no choice but to follow. She stopped in front of a Latina man and shoved both hands into his chest.

“What the fuck are you doin’ here Carlos?” He looked annoyed and let go of the blonde he was holding.

Taking a step toward Cris, he gave her a smile that made me shiver. “Celebratin.’ Didn’t anyone tell you?” He spread his arms wide. “I’m out, baby.”

Rage crossed her features. “Who in the fuck did you pay off?”

He shook his head. “No need to pay anyone, Chrissy-ya. The charges were dropped.” He smiled again. “No one to testify.”

Cris started to shake. I couldn’t tell if she was pissed or terrified. I looked over my shoulder, hoping to see black jackets headed our way. I wanted to go get Rocker, but couldn’t leave her alone.

“What did you do to her?”

Carlos shrugged. “She knows you’re just trying to come between us. That I made a mistake and no matter what, I love her, and our family is the most important thing.”

“Bullfuckingshit!” Cris snarled, turning toward the young woman with him. “Do you have any idea what a monster he is?” She was screaming and Carlos’ arm came out to block her from getting closer to the girl. “Did you know that he beat his girlfriend so badly this time that she’s gonna be blind? That the fucka you’re with took a pipe to her in front of their kids while they were begging him to stop?”

Carlos grabbed her, shaking her hard. The hair on my arms rose and I moved toward them, realizing suddenly that ten or fifteen men had appeared out of nowhere and they were looking around as if making sure no one interfered with this horrible scene. Cris swore at the man holding her and then spit in his face. He raised his hand, slapping her hard.

She stumbled backwards.
Fuck him
. I made an inaudible scream, lunging forward, trying to get to her. She was quick, though, and was on her feet throwing a blow back at the man that struck her. Fingers closed on my arm, biting into my skin painfully, and I shoved at the stranger that grabbed me. He let go, looking at me with a hungry smile, as if I was the mouse that walked into the cat’s convention. Warning bells screamed in my head and I backed away from him, quickly.

He had taken one step toward me, when an elbow came out of nowhere, catching me in the side of the face. The impact spun me around in time to see another man punch Cris. She fell to her knees, and in a move that gave credit to her training, aimed a fist right at Carlo’s nuts. He doubled over.

A pair of arms grabbed me, lifting my legs off the ground. I started to struggle. If these men would beat on two girls in public, they would do much worse behind closed doors. But, it was Matty’s voice I heard. He was yelling at someone, telling them to, “Get her the fuck out of here! Now!” Familiar black jackets seemed to be everywhere as a brawl erupted in front of me. I saw glimpses, Rob kicking someone on the floor, Dean take a punch but come right back with one of his own; but I didn’t see Matty anywhere. The voice near my ear was talking loudly, telling me everything would be ok, that we’d be outside soon. I was stunned and didn’t fight the hands that gripped me tight as I was carried outside.

As soon as we were away from the mob of people, he set me down and turned me towards him. I only had a second to register that it was Ian before his arms came around me, hugging me tight, trying to offer me comfort. He pulled away, holding my face between his hands, moving it toward the light. “It isn’t split, but you’re gonna have a wicked fat lip.” He shook his head. “Fuckin’ cowahd bastahd.” He looked back at the door, flexing his fist as if he wanted to be inside. “I hope they fuckin kick him in the teeth for me.” He sighed. “You ok otha than that?” I nodded.

“Are they gonna be alright?”

He looked back at me, smirking. “The guys? Yeah.” He nodded. “And, Cris’ll be fine, too. She’s fuckin’ tough. I’ve seen her beat people bloody in the ring.” Sounds of the fight echoed into the lot and he tensed.

“You don’t have to wait here with me. I’m fine.”

Ian chuckled. “Mateo would kill me if I left you all by yourself. Not...,” he broke off as a siren screeched in the distance. He tensed. “Fuck. Fuck. Fuck!” I grabbed his hand, terrified of what was happening. He squeezed back. “It’ll be ok.” Twelve cruisers squealed to a stop on the street and around the parking lot, and police officers swarmed the club. I was shaking, from either the temperature contrast or nerves, and Ian pulled me close. Ripping off his leather, he put it around my shoulders, and I mindlessly put my arms through the holes.  "I've gotta get you outta here." He started to pull me towards the bikes.

"No, I...” My teeth chattered. “I work with the police on a regular basis. We have to stay and tell them what happened."

He stopped walking and gave me the once over. "You normally look like that when you're working with 'em?" I felt my face flush as I realized he was right. "Come on. Before they see us."

I'd never ridden a bike other than with Matty. Ian's looked a lot meaner, and I hesitated, but then I lifted a leg over and huddled into his back.
