A Project Chick (26 page)

So, for someone in the "p.j.'s" on the outside looking in, it may have appeared Tressa had it going on. Especially when she looked at Tressa's flat stomach in the tight fitting dress that hugged every curve.

This broad had two babies, twins at that, and her
stomach is flat as a damn pancake. BITCH!

Tressa was wearing a super cute, red sundress that stopped a little above her knees. The dress crisscrossed in the back with two splits on the side. The python print red and black strap sandals dressed the ensemble up. She had some fresh micro mini-braids in her hair, and had it pinned up in a sophisticated style, with a couple of braids hanging down on the side coming over her left eye. She wore some medium-sized gold hoop earrings.

That bitch thinks she's all that, with her little outfit,
Rosey thought to herself.

Rosey examined Tressa's outfit to try to find a flaw, but there wasn't one.

Rosey never would have imagined that the dress was purchased in the white area of town at the seven-dollar store and the dress was on clearance for five dollars! The shoes were on sale for thirty dollars. How pathetic that Rosey was jealous over a $37.00 outfit!

Rosey's envy continued.
Then she got the nerve to
have some name brand luggage. Why she toting that four
hundred dollar bag? Why don't she move up out of here
then, if she's so damn big time! I'm so mad she got that bag, I
wish I had it. I ain't worried about her because she didn't
buy it. That nigga bought it for her, I am sure. I betcha she
probably sucked his dick to get that. Or maybe she did him
and his friend. Damn, I wish I knew something about him,
because I daggone sure would throw it right up in her face.

That's all right, because I got some dirt for her that would
make her bite the damn dust. She might have had a good
little time on her so-called vacation or whatever she wanna
call it, but guess what? The bitch is going to feel like the only
getaway she wanna go on, is one to the mental institution
.

"Hey Tressa." Rosey's jealous hearted self said.

"Hey Rosey, how are you?"

"Girl, I came up to your house last night looking for you, because I had something to share with you."

"Oh, is that right." Tressa hesitantly said to Rosey.

"Gurl, Gurl, Gurl, I hate to seem like I'm always gossiping and shit, but gurrrrllll, I had to know how you felt about your baby daddy fucking your best friend!" 174

"What are you talking about?" A stunned Tressa asked.

"That girl you be with Dutchess, and Lucky, that's right, they been messing with each other for a minute. You didn't know that?"

"Nope, I didn't know." Tressa barely said, after the wind was knocked out of her, by the news of this latest betrayal.

"I figured you didn't. Well, now you do." Tressa walked away stunned, astonished, surprised, dumbfounded, and most of all, hurt. At this point, she would expect something so low and grimy from Lucky.

Now, Dutchess was a different story, her and Dutchess went way back. Dutchess was her road dog, her comrade, her friend, and partner in crime. Dutchess called and talked to Tressa everyday, and constantly reminded Tressa how she loved her as a sister, and truly wanted the best for her. For one second, she thought that Rosey was lying, but then she thought again. She knew in her heart that Rosey was telling the truth. Dutchess had never given Tressa any type of indication that there was something going on between the two of them, so she had no reason to suspect them. She realized that this type of accusation was something heavy to place on somebody, and especially a so-called best friend. But there are some things in your heart that you just know, and for Tressa this was a hard pill to swallow.

Tressa never called either of them to discuss the matter. As far as Lucky was concerned, she could give a damn. But Dutchess on the other hand, oh, that was a different story.

The first person she called to try to express her crushed feelings to was Wiggles. Wiggles had truly lived up to her promise to Tressa to be there for her. Wiggles was Tressa's backbone now, at times, Tressa wondered what she'd do without Wiggles. Wiggles' first reaction was. "Boo-Boo told me something like that too, but I didn't pay him any mind."

"Well, it's true." She started talking fast, pouring out her heart and pent up tears.

"I never liked that hoe anyway. I told you she wasn't shit when she didn't help you fight back in the 7th grade when that girl Michelle Booger was looking for you."

"Yeah, you did."

"I'm going to smack the cowboy shit out of that broad when I see her. Just for the principle of the matter." Tressa changed the subject, because she knew how Wiggles could get carried away when it came to somebody trying to bring harm to her and her kids.

"So you picked up the boys, huh?" Tressa asked, redirecting the conversation to something she knew would calm Wiggles down.

"I picked up the boys this evening from Ms. Betty's house. She called and needed them to be picked up early because she said she had to go to Bingo.

"See, she said she didn't need me to pick them up until Monday afternoon. She'd drop them off at daycare and I could just pick them up. She makes me sick, always reneging." Tressa said, getting a little frustrated.

"It's no big deal. You know I love those babies as if they were my own. I picked them up and took them to the mall to get some ice cream. Gurl, I had to have a long talk with them, especially that Hadji."

"What? Hadji? You mean Ali?" Tressa asked, trying to correct Wiggles because she knew Ali was usually the bad one.

"No, I mean Hadji." Wiggles assured her.

"What did he do?"

"Girl, he showed out for Lucky, both of them really, but Hadji more. After I handled it, I brought them home, gave them a bath and now they are fast to sleep."

"Thanks Wiggles. It's always nice to have a big sister."

"But while we were at the mall, we ran into Lucky.

Girl, I swear I felt like just killing that nigga!"

"Gurl, don't I know it." Tressa said.

"If I thought I could get away with it, I will kill him.

Not because he's so damn disrespectful to me, but because he lives to make your life a living hell."

"Gurl, later for Lucky. Don't worry he'll get his."

"I know, but if I ever catch him slipping, he's a done deal. Believe that."

"Gurl, what did he say at the mall." Tressa said, growing inpatient.

"Well, first off, he has this thing that he has established with the boys. When they first see each other, they put their fingers up like guns, aim them and act like they are shooting each other. Then whoever shoots first, the other one falls on the floor like he is dead."

"What? Oh, HELL NO!"

"Then when I corrected the boys, he had the nerve to say to me. 'What the fuck you doing with my damn kids, you junkie bitch. How about I give you fifteen dollars to suck my dick? Or, what about a rock?'"

"Gurl, stop playing?"

"Nope, I am not. I didn't even respond to him because the boys were with me. But girl, he was dead serious."

Tressa couldn't stand to hear anymore. Her blood was boiling, she had heard just about enough about Lucky for one day.

"Wiggles, I gotta go. I'll call you back." Tressa couldn't even think of Lucky's number, she was so mad that she dialed the wrong number while pacing the floor back in forth. When she finally reached him, she let him have it.

"Yo." Lucky said as he answered the phone.

"Why in the hell you got my sons playing Shoot'em up Cowboy and the Lone fucking Ranger?"

"Because when they grow up, they're going to be gangsters, they need to practice." He said arrogantly.

"You know what Lucky? I asked you to leave us alone and you can't. Why? Tell me why? You keep trying to attack me every way you know how. Why?"

"Cuz, I hate your dumb ass and I plan to hurt you in every way I can."

"You know what Lucky, one day you're going to get yourself boxed in and you're going to need me."

"Need you? Need ya ass for what? You a broke ass bitch! What can you possibly do for me? Please tell me?"

"You are going to crumble, watch what I tell you.

You are going to wither like dry grass. You think you up now, but watch, you are going to come tumbling down like the walls of Jericho. And when you lying on your back, 177

you're going to need me. Mark my words!" She screamed into the Uniden brand cordless phone. "And, I won't need your ass, that's for sure. Believe me, I got enough people in my corner who'll die to be there to watch you fall."

"The only way I am going to crumble is if you go to the police about that double murder you made me do."

"What, nigga? Oh, the one thing you don't have to worry about is me going to the police. I don't have to. I'll let you do that, you'll bring them to you. And when they come for you, I hope you don't think Dutchess' going to be there for you either." She slid the fact she knew about Dutchess in there, just to get his reaction.

"So, what you know 'bout Dutchess? I don't give a damn! She has been around just as long as you have. How you think I knew where you lived? How you think I've always been one step ahead of ya dumb, stupid ass?

Because of ya girl Dutchess. It was a close call when you set the apartment on fire." He laughed. "Now, that was some funny shit. You were so close and still didn't catch on. I've fucked all your friends and it ain't going to be, but a matter of minutes, before I get to Missy and Wiggles, one way or another. Believe that."

Tressa was left speechless by the words that came out of Lucky's mouth. She couldn't believe what he said about Dutchess being the girl that was in the apartment when she set fire to it years ago!

At that, Tressa slammed the phone down.

Tressa cried for a minute, out of hurt and pain that her friend would do something like this to her.

Now it's all coming together. When it first went down
years ago, Lucky said the girl's name was Dee. He threw me
off when he said she was from out of town. But I didn't even
think nothing of it when I saw Dutchess and she had a
bandage over a burn. I would have never thought, in my
wildest dreams, that she would dare do something like this to
me. It's one thing for a female to mess with my man behind
my back, but to act as my friend. To have the gall, the
audacity, the fucking nerve to call me everyday and portray
herself as my friend, and the whole time, she's laughing
behind my back. Oh, hell no! I might seem like a fool,
because so many times I have turned the other cheek and

never went off on nobody. But a pipe can't take but so much
steam before it bursts.

Tressa grabbed her car keys and went over to Dutchess house. She began banging on the door like she was the police coming to raid the house.

"Open up the damn door! You made your bed now lie in it!" Tressa continued to bang on the door and screamed at the top of her lungs. "I know ya punk ass ain't going to answer the door, same as you'd rather jump out the window and get burnt up than face me." It never dawned on Tressa that Lucky had already called Dutchess to warn her that the cat was out of the bag.

Tressa kicked the door and the door didn't budge.

Dutchess still never answered. For some reason, the neighbors never came outside to look. Maybe it was because Dutchess always has something going on at her house, so they were used to these types of behavior.

Tressa was still in a fury. On her way home, she passed a paint shop and a bright idea popped into her head. She purchased some cans of spray paint and went back over to Dutchess' house with a stepladder. Tressa waited until every light on the block was off and spray painted in black paint, "Bitch, Whore, Slut, Backstabber", all over the freshly painted white aluminum siding on Dutchess' house.

After doing this, she felt better. Payback is a bitch!
