A Chance at Destiny (9 page)

Now, sitting on the sofa waiting for the oven timer, Tyler hoped that this night would end as great as the last couples gathering. Tyler shifted trying not to think about the way Destiny kissed him that night when they entered their apartment. They would have to leave soon and he needed to have his libido under control.

After the couples gathering, Destiny entered the apartment, she grabbed her husband's hand. She ran her fingers over the length over each digit. Then she pulled it to her heart and held it close. Tyler looked into her eyes watching her full beautiful lips part and he pressed his mouth to hers.   Wrapping his arms around her waist, Tyler lifted Destiny, leading her to the bedroom.

In the bedroom, Destiny stood in front of him. She’d placed her lips on his and allowed him to lick and suck them. They were so full and shiny with gloss. He had to devour them. Devour her. Taking a deep breath, he stepped back. She grabbed his hands and interlocked their fingers. “Touch me Tyler,” she whispered. Tyler almost couldn’t breathe at the sound of the words. But hearing those words, he gathered thoughts and slid his hands under her sheer pink blouse. He placed his hands on her breasts. They were perfect and round. He pulled the thin tank top   down. Her breasts were free and loose slightly hanging beneath the soft sheer material.

Tyler took in the sight of his wife and pulled her close to his body. Destiny could feel his hardness. She wanted more. The moisture and pressure was building between her legs. Destiny moaned. The sound of her moaning pushed him into overdrive. His body was asking- no begging- for more. So Tyler took his hands and wrapped them around her waist lifting her so her legs could fit around him. He pushed her to the wall and rubbed his hardness against her. She moaned at the blessed friction. She threw her head back. He kissed her neck. She began pulling at his shirt, pulling it over his head. She pushed his hair back from his face then slid off her shirt, tank top and bra.

Tyler's mouth watered as he watched her breast bounce and jiggle out of the contraption .On the bed, he gathered one in his mouth while grasping the nipple of the other. He pulled her jeans and panties down in one motion then his own cargo shorts and underwear went to the floor. He slid the condom on to his lengthy arousal then slide into his wife. Destiny moaned with a growl so fierce he had to stop to prevent coming right then. With all the intensity from weeks of buildup, he began to pound her body with his while holding her hips in place. His sweet wife -sweet Destiny- thrashed her head back and forth with her body writhing against his. Her hair was wild and spread out over the bed. Tyler opened his eyes to see his long blond locks spread all over her milk chocolate breasts which increased his need for an immediate release. Destiny began to moan and grunt. She pulled him into her harder and harder until he felt her body tighten around him and screamed with her head thrown back and her eyes closed. Watching her come undone, Tyler followed her with the same ferocity. He was paralyzed with pleasure. He couldn't move. Finally letting her body calm, Destiny held him tight until she dozed off.

When Tyler woke up, there was a pair of hazel eyes focused on him with great intensity. He didn't speak. He smirked and rolled onto his side and snuggled into his wife's embrace. After laying there for a while, he pulled back, and she stared a little longer. Then Destiny spoke.

“Do you know how blonde your eyelashes are?” She asked.

Tyler smiled at the odd comment then frowned. His blue eyes were truly piercing. “I know....they’re really blonde.”

“And their long,” Destiny cupped his face. Her look was so tender and gentle really focusing on his eyes. Tyler hadn't seen that look before.

He rubbed his hands over his face. Then he took a deep breath and rolled over to face her fully again. “I used to be embarrassed because I  thought they looked like girl’s eyelashes,” He laughed “But now I know that girls love to look at them,” he chuckled.

“You are so full of yourself,” She shook her head and rolled out of bed. Tyler hated to see her go, but he had to get up and dressed to work at the garage. By the time he showered and put on his gray work shirt, work boots, and jeans, Destiny was putting his breakfast on the table. It was mid-morning. He loved breakfast just not early in the morning. She'd turned on the sports channel and was headed for a shower. Tyler watched her leave the room. He loved the way her hips moved smoothly. He loved the slight gap that separated her thighs causing her hips to round out. Her hair was still wild from the night before. He really loved that she knew him so well already and their life was so simple and easy. He hated drama. Destiny was drama free. He smiled at the thought.

Tyler knew that while he was working at the garage she would wash all the dirty laundry, cook dinner, and clean the entire apartment. He loved the smell of her scented candles when he came home even though he would never admit it. But those candles represented his home. His peace. His wife. Tyler was getting used to the idea that his feelings for Destiny were different than what he'd originally thought. But he suspected it was only natural to fall for someone who was with you every day in such a small space.

Thanksgiving break had finally rolled around. Although Tyler and Destiny wanted to go to see his father, they knew the drive and the money would be too much for them. They decided to stay with the other couples and have a huge meal with Annie and Jessup.

On the night of Thanksgiving, Tyler's phone rang. It was a classmate. He'd agreed to study meet with after the Thanksgiving break. Destiny watched as Tyler stood to take the call outside. She'd wondered about his many calls and text messages lately. She thought back to the couple’s lessons Annie and Jessup had focused on the last few weeks-trust and communication.

Destiny watched as he pushed his hands in his pockets and shuffled his feet. She wondered if that was to ward off the cold weather or a nervous gesture. She pulled her eyes away from Tyler who was still standing out in the cold.
Why should I care who he's talking too?
She thought to herself. She and Tyler Duggan had an arrangement and part of the plan wasn't to be together. Was it? He promised not to screw around and she had no reason not to trust him. Destiny focused on the magazine pushing her feelings of jealousy to the side.

“Hey, can I use your phone?” Destiny asked Tyler on Thanksgiving. They were on their way to Thanksgiving dinner with all their new friends. She didn’t have a cell phone. Her carrier wasn't in the area for her prepaid phone. She'd only been working at the library a month so she was still saving to buy a new phone. Calling from her landline, she didn't think Dasha would answer. But she knew that her sister had Tyler's cell phone number. Calling from his phone meant her sister might answer her call.

“Yeah, sure.” Tyler stood walking the phone over to her.

She pushed the home key and looked at the screen, “Can you unlock it?” She'd never seen Tyler lock his phone before. Most of the time she could pick it up and dial out anytime she needed. But for some reason he’d added a pass code.  He walked over grabbed the phone and typed the code in,“Thanks.”

At Thanksgiving dinner, Tyler looked at the phone several times. He needed to return Cindi’s text message but he’d have to do that after they ate. He put the phone silent because Jess and Annie required that as a table rule.

Destiny sat next to Tyler. She talked mostly Bethany while Tyler talked to Brody. Tyler watched his wife get up from the table to help with the dishes when the meal was over. He wondered if she was upset. She had grown quiet since they’d left the house. He’d asked if she needed help with the squash casserole, she replied with a curt “no thank you”. He asked if she was okay when she hadn't spoken to him during the entire meal. He received a cold clipped “fine”.

Tyler thought Destiny was missing her family as much as he was missing his. She'd called her sister but gotten no answer. He knew that hurt Destiny. She'd called Dasha several times since they'd left for dinner but calls went unanswered. Destiny would always leave an upbeat message and Tyler's number. She'd even told her she could call the land line.

Destiny was rocking baby Gracie to sleep. She missed Lilly and Lyle. She wanted to hear their voice. She'd spent many hours wondering how they were doing. It hurt that Dasha saw her leaving for a better life as abandoning them.  But she continued to call. Destiny watched Tyler ease his cell phone out of his pocket and check his messages. His father and James called early this morning to wish them both a happy Thanksgiving. James said he was taking David to a doctor’s appointment over the next week and would be calling to let them know how it went.

Destiny sat rocking the baby as she watched his phone light up again and again as he watched the football game and laughed with the other husbands. She began to feel angry and hurt.
Who would be calling him and texting him on the holidays?
She wondered. But Tyler always did exactly what he was supposed to do. He'd never lied to her and never been anything but trustworthy. So she would just have to have faith in him. Even if her heart wanted to not trust him.

Annie watched the expression change on Destiny's face. She'd seen that look before but chose not to say anything. Instead, she reached for the sleeping Gracie to put her to bed leaving Maria and Destiny to talk.

“You seem quiet,” Maria looked at her.

“I'm always quiet.” She looked out the back window at the fall foliage.

“True. But you’re even quieter and maybe a little upset?” Maria questioned.

“Nothing big. Just family crap,” Destiny and Maria had talked at least once a week about their families. Maria had family issues because of having little Gracie out of wedlock. Destiny explained that Dasha wasn't happy about her marriage to Tyler and that her mom was nowhere to be found.

“Oh. I know how you feel. It's the holidays and I miss my family. Even though they don't understand me and Markos getting married, I still miss them,” she said pushing her long layered auburn hair back. Maria had deep sun kissed skin with round hips and a flat belly. Her eyes were a deep cocoa brown and her lips were naturally raspberry.

When the night was over, Destiny hadn't seen her husband since they sat uncomfortably at dinner. As the guest started leaving, she spotted Tyler and Markos standing outside on the wrap around porch talking. Markos and Tyler were close. They even worked at the same garage on weekends. Tyler admired the way he took care of his family. They didn't have a lot ,but they had enough. Markos was the opposite of Tyler in physical appearance. He was a short and compact with muscles as Tyler was tall and lean. Markos' hair was jet black and short to Tyler's long golden blonde locks. He wore his t-shirts snug and pulled across his chest with snug fitting jeans and boots. Tyler always wore loose fitting clothes. Together they were a sight.

When both men saw their wives, they gathered the empty containers to return home. Destiny watched as Maria and Markos held hands while baby Gracie cooed. She was wide awake from her nap. As Tyler stepped close to Destiny, she tensed. He looked at her. He wondered what was bother her. Before he could ask, his phone buzzed. He pulled it out his pocket and returned a text to Cindi about a group project. Destiny sighed deeply in frustration and quickly home ahead of Tyler.

Chapter Seven

Destiny sat at the entrance of the library. She'd never had to wait before. She prayed that Tyler was okay. She sat and waited a little longer. The library would be closing soon. She fidgeted as she watched the students file out of the library talking and laughing amongst themselves. Suddenly Destiny felt the pangs of loneliness. She was a student yet just like high school, she didn't have many friends. She had Maria and the other married couples but she didn't know many of the other students on campus. She didn't attend many student events.

Breaking her thought, she saw a guy she recognized. He was a regular at the library and she’d seen him and another guy her first day on Bradford College campus. He was walking towards her. He was tall. As tall as Tyler but he was broad, strong looking. He had on a shirt that read: Property of Bradford College Athletic Department which let her know that he was an athlete for the school.

“You okay?” He asked.

“I'm fine,” Destiny replied quietly even though she was worried about Tyler. She tightened her posture.

“You waiting on someone?” He sat next to her on the bench.
