Chapter Five

Chloe woke early the next morning alone. A pillow replaced Quinn’s warm body and the quilt had been tucked around her tight. She could barely move her arms and she had to wrestle with the coverlet to gain her freedom. The power had been restored and the Christmas lights sparkled in the dimly lit room. The fire had fizzled out long ago, but the heater kept the room nice and toasty.

One glance around the room confirmed Quinn had left. Little traces of him remained, though, and her heart ached more than it should. She’d only known him a day, but that day had felt like a lifetime. Even though she’d known he didn’t feel the same about her, something deep down inside had wished he would’ve stayed and spent Christmas Day—or forever—with her.

She shook her head and lay back down. Wallowing in self-pity wouldn’t get her anywhere, but one more hour might do the trick. Maybe the sun would melt away some of the snow and she could visit Christmas Town in the afternoon.

The door to the cabin opened and Quinn barreled in. Her breath caught and she could only stare as he made himself at home.

“Oh, good, you’re up,” he started. “The snowplow and clean-up crew woke me, so I went out to see if they needed some help shoveling the walkways. It’s safe to go into town now, and it’s supposed to be warm today, so the paths shouldn’t ice. If we want to go sledding, we should hurry before that hill back there shrinks.”

He stared at her a moment and she realized she hadn’t taken a breath since he came into the room.

“What’s wrong?”

She jumped off the couch, ran to him and wrapped her arms around his waist. The knee-jerk reaction seemed extreme and her cheeks heated until he completed their embrace by encircling his arms around her. Then her cheeks heated from arousal as she felt his hard, warm, body surround her.

“What happened? What’s wrong?”

“I’m sorry,” she said into his sweater, and then the tears started to fall. In that moment, she realized how deeply she’d fallen for him. To make the situation worse, it was too late to try and hide her feelings. Tears soaked through his sweater and her voice broke when she spoke again. “I thought you’d left.”

“Hey,” he said and pulled back to look at her.

She kept her head down, unable to meet his disapproving gaze. She’d broken the one rule she’d set for herself, and she’d broken his trust. He’d made it clear he only wanted friendship from her, and now that he knew she’d fallen for him, he’d leave and she’d never see him again.

He placed a finger under her chin and lifted her head. When she wouldn’t meet his eyes, he issued a gentle command.

“Chloe, look at me.”

Might as well get it over with.

She looked at him through the tears that hadn’t slipped away, but instead of anger, censure and pity, she saw something akin to love. She knew her eyes must be deceiving her, so she wiped away the tears and met his gaze again. His eyes sparkled in the same way they had the day before and his smile was warm and genuine.

“I’m not going anywhere.”

She stared at him waiting for the punchline, but it never came. She opened her mouth to ask if he really meant it, but the words wouldn’t come. He nodded, as if he’d read her mind, then he leaned down, and covered her mouth with his.

The kiss was everything she’d always dreamed of.

He didn’t come to her careful and gentle, as if trying to seduce her or convince her to love him. His lips were firm, eager and demanding. He took what he wanted and she let go of her fears and gave him everything.

He forced his tongue inside her mouth and pulled her closer, meshing their bodies together. She wrapped her arms around his neck and when she felt his hard cock pressing into her middle, a jolt of electricity raced down her back and straight to her pussy. He broke away from her mouth and kissed her neck as his hands slid over her ass. When he grabbed the sensitive skin gently between his teeth, she gasped and he used her shock against her.

He grabbed her ass and lifted her off the ground. She had no choice but to wrap her legs around his waist and the motion placed her pussy directly over his cock. She ground against him and marveled at his size before fear and embarrassment threatened to take over.

“Quinn, put me down. Please. You’ll hurt yourself,” she pleaded as she tried wiggle away and get her feet back on the floor.

He pulled back to look at her.

“You’re joking right?”

“No, I’m too hea—”

Smack!

He spanked her ass and her pussy fluttered.

“Stop squirming or I won’t make it to the bedroom,” he said, and then he started walking.

With every step, her clit slid up and down his dick, sending sparks of electricity all over her body. It had been so long since she’d come in the arms of a man, and he hadn’t even done anything except kiss her.

“Quinn, I can walk,” she started again.

Smack!

Liquid heat pooled at her entrance and dampened her panties.

“Are you insinuating that I’m too weak to carry you?” he asked.

“Of course not, it’s just that I’m—”

“Perfect.”

She shook her head and he smacked her ass again.

A tiny moan escaped and she ground her hips against his rock hard dick.

“You’re perfect. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m huge,” he laughed. “I need a woman who can handle a man my size wanting to fuck her all night long. That’s not going to happen with some tiny, little thing. I need a tall, beautiful woman with crazy curly hair and curves that go on for miles. So yes, you’re perfect for me. Now strip.”

He set her down next to the bed and started taking off his clothes.

“Wh— What?” she stammered.

“I’m sorry, honey, but the way you were sliding up and down my cock has me about to explode. I can’t go slow this time, but I promise I’ll make it up to you in a few minutes.”

She glanced around the room and noted the sun shining through the covered window, lightening the room even though the lights were off. She’d never be able to hide her body from him if they had sex now, but he’d said he liked her curves.

Did he mean it?

“You’re moving too slow,” he said and slowly slid her sweater up her waist.

The heat from his hands penetrated her skin and warmed her throughout. Though he claimed he needed to have her now, he didn’t force or rush her to get undressed. He seemed to know that she needed a minute to get her thoughts together and she appreciated his restraint.

His thumbs brushed across the underside of her breasts the moment she looked down at his magnificent naked body. Another scar, this one much bigger than the swipe over his eye, marked his chest above his heart. It started with a circle about two inches wide, and then trailed off under his arm like a shooting star. She raised her hand to outline the old wound, but then hesitated with her hand in the air.

“You can touch me anywhere, honey. We were meant to be together. Trust me.”

She nodded and raised her arms above her head and let him strip off her clothes.

He didn’t move with the urgency he had when removing his own. Instead, he removed each piece slowly as if unwrapping a gift. When he finished, she held her breath and waited for his response.

He cupped the nape of her neck with his hand and waited, patiently, until she made eye contact.

“You are so beautiful,” he said, and then he kissed her again.

This time she didn’t hold back. They were naked, his long, thick cock bounced against his abs, ready for action, and he’d said he wanted her. She’d wanted this moment since she first laid eyes on him, and when he told her to get on the bed and spread her legs, she eagerly obeyed.

“Oh, be right back.”

He ran out of the room and she gripped the bedspread, as her fears began to resurface.

No!

She pushed them away. Quinn wasn’t like her ex, or any other man she’d dated. She trusted him. She willed her hands to relax as he ran back in the room carrying a string of condoms.

“Everything okay?” he asked as he eyed the scrunched up ball of fabric on either side of her.

“Yeah,” she nodded. “Everything’s perfect. Where did you get those?”

“I bought them yesterday, just in case,” he smiled and kneeled on the bed between her legs. He ripped one of the packets off the chain, tore the foil and rolled on the protection.

“I didn’t see them in the bag.”

“I took them out. I didn’t want you to think I only wanted sex,” he said and covered her body with his. He positioned his cock at her opening and inched inside her wet heat.

“I—oh,” she said as he sank deeper into her core. She wrapped her arms around him and tried to pull him in deeper, moaning as she accepted every inch of his length.

“Chloe?”

“Yeah?”

“Let’s talk later, okay?”

She nodded and he kissed her as he slid out equally slow, only to repeat the slow strokes two more times. Her essence covered him and eased the way for his entry. His cock touched her everywhere, and filled her as she’d never been filled. She enjoyed learning the feel of him, but she longed for what he promised. She wanted to be taken hard and fast, as if he couldn’t hold back.

Suddenly, he pulled out, pushed her knees open, and slammed into her pussy. His balls smacked against her ass and she wanted more. He pounded into her over and over until she came, and then he pounded harder and faster. She screamed his name as her second orgasm assaulted her and he came with an animalistic growl.

He covered her body with his, resting most of his weight on his forearms. He studied her and kissed her again once their breathing returned to a semi-normal state.

“That was amazing,” he said between kisses.

“It was perfect,” she agreed.

“I’ll be right back.”

He pulled out and went to the restroom to take care of the condom. As she watched him walk away, she realized she didn’t only trust him, she loved him.

Somehow, over the course of two days, she’d fallen in love.

Quinn kept his promise and returned to the bed minutes later, still hard, and loved her slow and sweet. He explored every inch of skin and kissed her in places she’d never been kissed.

He licked, sucked and kissed her until she writhed in need and begged for his cock. Then he made her beg again. She’d never been so exposed to a man and somewhere between it all, she realized she’d forgotten to worry about her extra weight or what she looked like naked.

He liked her body, and his desire fueled her confidence.

After a shower and a few more kisses, Quinn wanted to go sledding, but she convinced him to take a nap instead. The warmth of his body enveloped her in a cocoon and she never wanted to leave his embrace.

He eventually lured her out of bed with the promise of lunch and dinner in Christmas Town. He also promised carolers, and cookies and Santa. It was Christmas Eve and she didn’t want to miss the festivities after six months of planning.

She appreciated his enthusiasm.

They walked to the town in the early afternoon and had lunch at a sandwich shop run by elves. Later, they had sugar cookies with hot cocoa, took a picture with Santa and fed the reindeer. When the sun started to set, they walked Candy Cane Lane and marveled at the light display.

“Look at the polar bears,” she said excitedly, when they came to a light up display of polar bears carrying wrapped gifts on their backs. “They’re my favorite animal.”

“Really?” he asked.

“Yes, they’re so big and cuddly. I just want to hug them all, and maybe take a ride like one of those pretty packages.”

“You’re joking, right?”

“No, didn’t you ever see that movie? The one where the polar bear was a fierce warrior? He had armor, and the girl rode him into battle.”

She walked to the next display, but turned back when she realized he’d stopped.

“What?” she asked.

“Nothing,” he laughed, and caught up to her in two strides. “It’s just that I already know I can’t deny you anything, and this is going to come back to haunt me.”

“My polar bear story? Why?”

“I’ll tell you tomorrow,” he said, and linked his fingers with hers. “Come on, let’s get some dinner.”

They finished walking the lane and decided on pizza for dinner.

Quinn had a way with people, and even though he garnered stares by virtually everyone because of his size and appearance, he treated everyone with respect. He gave his full attention to clerks and the wait-staff in restaurants, but he barely acknowledged the other diners and the people passing him on the street. When they walked through the town, he acted as if she were the only woman in the world.

She’d begun to feel like a queen until Quinn left her next to the large Christmas tree in the center square. She begged him not to get her anything, but he insisted on buying her a Christmas gift, and left her there to wait for his return.

The brisk air swirled around her and she stood to move out of the cold when a familiar voice echoed over the crowd.
