INDISPENSABLE: Part 2 (9 page)

“Thank you for a wonderful night. The dinner was exquisite. I can’t believe how it tasted. Authentic French is so different to the restaurants at home.”

“Top French chefs are in a league of their own. But there are a few in our area that are fabulous.”

“Not likely to have been in my price range in recent years.”

“I remember having no money and having to work two jobs to eat and afford rent.”

Sarah touched his face. “We’re not reliving the hard memories. We’re making new ones.” His furrowed brow softened, and he gave a small smile. Her heart raced as he looked into her eyes with genuine affection.

“I’ve never had anyone who wanted to fix me as much as you do.” Brock kissed the tip of her nose.

Sarah smiled back at him. “You seem to enjoy doing that for me also. Why do you think that is?”

“I guess that’s what friends do, right?”

“Yes. It is. I’m not sure all friends take it as far as we do though.”

“We’re nothing if not thorough.”

Sarah sighed and kissed him. He let her. He never tried to control the kiss. He responded, but he didn’t take over. Sarah kissed him gently, thoroughly, and with love in her heart. When she was done, his eyes glittered back at her.

“Sarah Beaumont. How did I get so lucky to find you?”

Chapter Fifteen

Brock relaxed into her lovely kisses. He made himself just do nothing except respond to her touch by letting himself feel it. Her deft, silken fingers caressed his body, lightly touching his erection that she’d sheathed with a condom.

She’d even thought of that. Just as well because he never had any here. To him this was just another showing of trust. She was keeping him safe, as well as herself.

He didn’t touch her back. Not yet. He wasn’t sure if he had the control to do so without taking what he wanted from her and making her concede to his will.

She’d put her trust in him, he agreed and put his in her. He was shit-scared this would all blow up in his face somehow. Still, he mustn’t think about that. He wasn’t to think about the crappy past, how he’d never had anyone to love him, not really love him.

Now, he had a safe place to allow that. Sarah’s hands and lips gave him a feeling he’d never had before, and he decided he would wallow in that a while.

“Sarah, that feels wonderful.”

“It does indeed.”

She came to him and kissed his lips harder than before. Her tongue entwined in his and fired his passion to its peak. He kissed her back then, safe in the knowledge that this was what she wanted, what she needed right now.

She responded immediately and slid over him as she had before. But this was different. Brock could feel the heat and moistness of her against his hard cock. She moved her pussy along his erection in a maddening way.

He just wanted to drive inside her until he hit the Promised Land. He spoke sternly to himself and remained still until she’d given the signal. Sarah pushed herself more upright and worked against his hardened shaft. Her eyes were closed and her head back. The most perfect breasts in the universe were before him, and he touched her nipples with his fingertips. Just lightly to test the waters and see if it was okay.

Sarah drew in a sharp breath and opened her eyes to pin him with a look he’d never seen a woman give before. It was more than passion, more than trust even. Brock stared back at her. Some unspoken agreement between them was now being forged, and he was lost to the emotion of it all.

The adjustment was slight, and fast, but he was now inside her. Sarah wasn’t slow and gentle, and Brock cried out as she let her body take him in fully, without warning. She swore and lifted her hips high again, only to drive herself back down on him. She was tight, hot, and so wet for him, Brock must’ve died and gone to heaven, surely.

He tweaked and twisted her nipples, as she leaned back and pushed down onto him, throwing her head back and giving a loud groan of pleasure. He’d never seen a more beautiful, sexy sight in his life. He thrust up to her, not hard. He couldn’t believe the self-control he had.

“God, yes, Brock. Fuck me.” Sarah worked her body into a frenzy, riding him hard, and he met her with his hip jerking up when she lowered. “Please. Please. I need to come, Brock. I need you make me come.”

“I want you to come, Sarah. I want to make you happy.”

“I’m happy, Brock. Right here, right now. This is what I want. I want you to come deep inside me as I come. This is making love.” She leaned forward and kissed him again. A long, passionate kiss. Brock had emotions welling up inside him, and he wanted to stop this. But instead he poured every feeling he had into the kiss. They worked in unison, a perfect combination of thrusts to build up the pressure. Sarah was close, her movements on his cock became a frenzy.

She pulled out of the kiss and pushed up off him a little to get his cock deeper inside her. “Fuck, yes. Yes. That’s perfect. I can feel it, Brock. I can feel you.”

The crescendo was coming faster than Brock had ever experienced as a man. The pressure built up inside him, and Sarah was tighter around him as she skirted along her orgasm.

But she wanted them to come together, so Brock knew he had to get some focus here because she could skirt along that orgasm for a long time yet, and he’d explode in seconds if he didn’t do something.

He squeezed his eyes shut and gave a growl. “Fuck, woman, you’ll make me let go in a second.”

“Hold on, a little longer. I’m almost there. I’ll tell you when.”

“Fuck. You’re killing me; your pussy is so tight and hot.”

“Hold on, Brock. Just a few more seconds. I need to hold back a little longer. Just a little longer, your cock makes me feel so good. You ramming up inside me.”

Brock let go a row of expletives. “Don’t talk like that, I’m barely here.”

Sarah looked at him below her, his face a contortion of emotions. He’d never looked so gorgeous and never seemed so sexy to her as he did at that moment. She was purposely dragging it out. She wanted them to both come so hard it turned them inside out. It couldn’t last forever, but she could keep going for a little longer.

Brock gripped her shoulders, pulling her close to him again. It might have lessened the intensity a little for him, not going in so deep and hard, but it made his pubic bone press right to her clit and Sarah went from crazed into frenzied. He held her to him and thrust into her, he must’ve known how he was hitting her throbbing clit.

Sarah head was dizzy, and her eyes clouded over, and she kissed Brock with unbridled passion, giving over to all of the delightful feelings racing around her body. He kissed her back, deeply. Their tongues meshed, and she couldn’t get enough of him in that second, and he seemed just the same with her.

Then, it happened. Sarah’s world became a spitfire of colors before her eyes, and every muscle in her body arched as the orgasm hit her. Brock surged his body up at the exact same moment, and he came inside her with a roar to match her cry, as they broke from the kiss and came together in perfect timing.

The climax went forever, and then she was spent. Her body limp on top of his. His arms encasing her still, as he fought to regain the breath he was clearly struggling for. “Fuck. Sarah. That was more than amazing. I’ve never come with anyone before, not inside them, at the same time. My whole head felt like it would explode.”

“Oh my God, that was better than I even expected. We just have something, don’t we? Do you feel it too?”

“I do. I’ve never been this way before.”

Sarah slid off him and onto her side. Her head rested on the soft pillow, and she played her fingers through his chest hair. Brock’s breathing slowed. Hers had too. But her body was rife with emotion. Why couldn’t they make this work? What the hell was stopping them?

Brock’s breathing slowed a little more, and he murmured to her how special she was. He never let her go, his arms good and tight around her still as he lay on his side. She held him too and damn it, if she didn’t love him. She did. How could she not? It wasn’t what he wanted, and it wasn’t what she’d wanted either, but it was true.

She yawned and the exhaustion hit her. She stopped holding him so tight and relaxed. “I love you, Brock. I’m sorry but I do.” There she’d said it.

Chapter Sixteen

Sarah held her breath a second, and he was silent. He hated her didn’t he? She should’ve kept her mouth shut. Why didn’t she just play the game and not get attached? Brock let out a quiet snore. “Brock?” she whispered and touched his face just to be sure.

He didn’t move. His breathing was deep and even. He was asleep. Thank God. She’d dodged a bullet. Making love was one thing, expressing it in touch was just fine, but saying it out loud, well that changed everything.

That made them face things they didn’t want to face. Not now, maybe not ever. But at least she’d admitted it to herself. She could set about damage control now, and make sure she didn’t say it out loud again.

Unless he felt the same. But no, he’d made it clear he wasn’t in this for love. This making love business was her idea. He’d agreed from a sense of fair play and obligation. She supposed he also was curious, and this was a safe way to explore that side of himself without fear of emotional complications.

She’d done well with that, hadn’t she? Not. However, Sarah also knew that love was an elusive emotion.

The heat of the moment, the mood at the time, the fact that they were removed from work and life, all had to be taken into account. Sarah needed to sleep on this, and yes, she could love him in this moment. That didn’t mean she’d love him when she got home and he was her boss again, that she wouldn’t hate him as much as she had done.

Making this work was not just the time they had here. Making it work in their normal lives, wouldn’t be easy. Sarah was not going there unless he did first. If he ever said he wanted to make it work between them, then she’d take stock of the possibilities. She wanted to love him. She wanted to love him so badly. But life wasn’t fairy tales and sprinkles. It was cold, hard facts.

Sarah looked at him sleeping there, satisfied by her, exhausted by her. When they woke up, her time would be over. Would he offer another agreement? Would he try and move forward without one? Sarah closed her eyes. But before she drifted off she had to say how she felt just one last time. “I love you, Brock. Thank you for Paris.”

Brock awoke and slipped out of bed. Sarah was still fast asleep, and he didn’t want to disturb her. He’d had a dream that she’d declared her love to him last night. It seemed so real, but when he’d opened his eyes just after, she’d been sleeping.

Why would he even put that thought in his own head? He knew it wasn’t possible. She couldn’t love him. He couldn’t love her. Last night was sublime. What she’d shown him, what she’d given him, was something he could never have imagined. He understood now how people could fall in love in a moment—from a touch, or a glance.

He could see how love knew no rules or boundaries, how love wouldn’t listen to logic or common sense. He raked his hand through his hair. He knew now that he did love Sarah. He loved her very much. Now this was the danger zone. He wasn’t free to love her. It was unfair of him to love her. He couldn’t force her to love him back with some written agreement. Sarah wanted and deserved a long, happy marriage.

He couldn’t give her that. He was already married. The family unit was important to him, very much so. They’d never lived in a marital relationship together, and he’d never even had sex with Heather’s mother beyond that first, unprotected time. He been with her during the birth and that had scared the wits out of him.

He’d sworn that day as an almost sixteen-year-old, he’d stand by her for the pain she’d been through to have his child. His gorgeous little girl. Neither of them had any clue about parenting, but Brock found a job, then another one. He lived at home as long as he could and supported them in their little flat. It was hard, but he’d made it. He learned a lot, and he’d gotten his first business together by the time he was eighteen.

He didn’t wait to make millions from it. As soon as it doubled in value, he sold it and invested in another. By the time he was twenty, he had enough to invest in gold mining shares. He got in at the right time and had never looked back. He built something for his family, and Heather had the best of educations, and now she worked alongside him while she studied. A dream come true.

But divorce was not an option. He wanted to keep the family unit intact. Heather’s mother had never mentioned divorce—although money wasn’t an issue there. She’d be looked after either way.

No one knew he’d married. He was touted as the country’s most eligible bachelor, and he’d been married almost fifteen years. But she’d never wanted the public side of his life. She’d kept her surname and given Heather her surname.

So no one knew—only Pierre because he’d known him for so long, and they’d been through a whole drunken my secret is worse than your secret session.

Brock was second-guessing everything about his life and his decisions right now. He’d fallen in love with Sarah, and now he had to find a way to fall out of love with her. No more sex, that was for sure.

No matter how craved her, it couldn’t happen. He’d promised her a playful day at the beach with the dogs. They could have that and then head back home to sort this crap out with Rick. Then, he’d talk to Sarah and let her know that—despite his strong feelings for her—he couldn’t go into a long-term relationship with her, and that she should look for what she really wanted in a life partner.

That might just go down as the conversation he was looking forward to the least in his life, but it had to be done, and he needed to be honest with her about his wife.
