To Amy for being as strong as Chastaine, even if she doesn't believe it.

Chapter 1

I
SHOULD
have known better than to log into my Facebook account. For the two months since I'd reported what Jim Frankel had done to me, I'd been shown every single day that being online was a bad idea. Yet I kept going back because of a stupid, masochistic need to see what they were saying about me.

Whore. How about I kill you so you stop screwing up lives?

Posted right to my wall. In public, where everyone would see. Not that most people had any problem with it. The post had about two dozen responses, and every single one of them agreed I was a whore. At least a few of them said I shouldn't be killed.

My eyes stung, and I squeezed them shut. I couldn't cry. Getting my laptop wet wouldn't make the damn thing work any better. But the words were right there in black and white. People hated me, and they were glad I'd been raped.

I should have just gotten away from the computer, but it was like a car accident. No matter how much I didn't want to see, I had to look. The next post wasn't much better, but compared to the first one, it was almost positive.

Happy new year, slut.

This time, I slammed my laptop closed and pressed my hands against my eyes. I had to set my profile to private so this would stop happening.

But as long as it was public, I saw what people said about me. It was better than them talking behind my back while I had no idea what they were saying. I'd been trying to convince myself to change my profile settings for two months now, and every single time, I'd talked myself out of it. It was better to know my enemies than be ignorant and have stuff sneak up on me.

“Chastaine, come down here!” my mother bellowed from downstairs.
