I raise a brow. “Okay.”

She pulls out an envelope from her back pocket and hands it over to me. “I got this letter here.” She rocks back on her heels. “And I was wondering what you think?”

This letter could be anything. It could be a letter that says her trust fund is now hers. Which would mean what for us? It could be a rejection letter from the University of Tennessee, which she’s been nervous about because it would mean more of this distance relationship. And to be honest, it’s been a real bitch. And I would not like going through it for another year, but I will. It will just really suck balls. I unfold the letter of possible dread and read the first couple of lines then stare at her. “For real? You’re attending next year?”

She nods. “If you want me to. I’ve got some others sitting at home.”

I lift her off the ground and spin her around. “Of course I want you there with me!”

“I love you, Graham,” Sarah says with a twinkle in her blue gaze as I set her back down.

“I love you too,” I whisper as I lean in to kiss her.

I pull away as soon as Mrs. Mayberry grumbles, “Oh, for heaven’s sake, just kiss already!”

Both Sarah and I laugh and then peer over at Mrs. Mayberry, who’s still pretending to trim her bushes. I tilt my head back toward Sarah and say, “Well, I guess we should give the audience what they’re asking for, huh?”

Sarah springs up on her toes, and we kiss. And damn, I have never missed someone’s lips as much as I’ve missed hers.
