Dominque (Knights to Remember) (10 page)

“Is it good news or bad?”

“Well, that was a new guy who’s known your doctor since he was eighteen.” Thom chuckled. “He was surprised to hear Jacob wanted to see you regularly. He’s never had a regular sub before. Ever.”

Dominque played with his cuff, glancing through his floppy hair at Thom. “Really?”

“Nope. He also doesn’t live the life one hundred percent of the time. That may be down to the fact he’s not found his perfect partner, but it could be down to a lot of other reasons. I'm guessing he’s busy, so that would impact having a full time sub living at home.”

“I don’t want that either.”

“Yeah, I know.” Thom stuffed a piece of croissant in his mouth. “So at least in that way you’re matched up. Plenty of people have Dom/sub relationships only in clubs. They work out well and they never see each other outside of the scene. It could be what you're looking for.” Thom smiled again, patting the sofa next to him. Dominque sat beside him again, letting him gently encase his slender hand with his huge one. “We can't all find everything we want in one place. If you're sticking with this job, then it would work out. But you know there’s not many Doms who would share your body with the clients you see. Keeping it professional, for lack of a better word, would work best right now.”

“So, I can trust him. He knows what he’s doing?”

“Yeah. He’s a good one, Domie. I’d trust him, not completely right now, but I’d be okay with letting you see him again and discussing this more. That is, if you're okay with it.”

Dominque sipped his coffee then sighed. “I want to talk to him more. I have his email address. I could start off that way. The escort thingy… he kinda needs to use me again. One more date and then we could end the client/escort part and maybe move on to just this. Maybe I should go on one more date. It’s a weekend thing, so I would get to know him more. See how things go.”

“I like that idea. It’s important you know him as a person before jumping into anything deeper. Get to know him, maybe you’ll talk more openly. Then when it’s over, you can both get together and come up with a plan.”

Dominque nodded, finishing off another croissant. It was a plan, the only plan he had, and it made sense to him so he went with it. “I’ll email him when we get back to Leeds.”

This was a big step for Dominque. One he didn’t think he would ever take. He might have dreamed of finding one person to share every part of him with, but that was too much to ask right now, so splitting his life into slices and dealing with them separately would ease the tension and confusion in his mind. If he could deal with one thing at a time, then he could move on slowly.

He didn’t have long until the escort side of him would be gone forever and he wanted to move back into the fold with his friends in his old club. He missed the community and the tight knit group of friends he made there who supported and loved him no matter what. If Jacob could help him move on before they went their separate ways, Dominque would be forever grateful to him.

It wouldn’t be easy, but Dominque was ready for the first time in a long time to try.

J
acob read through the long email from Dominque. It was sent to his work email, so he hadn’t received it until he logged on Monday morning when he arrived back at the hospital. He usually checked in, but after Saturday, he’d wanted time to work out his bad temper on his own in the confines of his apartment.

Dominque had put a lot of thought into his plan. He’d agreed to attend his sister’s wedding next weekend, and explained how he was thinking of leaving the agency and stopping being an escort all together later in the year. He wanted to end the client/escort side of things after the next date, which meant Jacob would have one last long weekend with him and then, if Dominque agreed, they would discuss a regular Dom/sub relationship.

Jacob thought about ending the whole escort thing there and then, but after receiving never ending texts from his sister and her soon to be husband about Dominque, he second guessed it. He wanted more from Dominque, and maybe being surrounded by his family would help Dominque choose to think about more too.

Jacob didn’t just want a Dom/sub relationship, one where they would meet up in a club and play then leave, never experiencing anything more. Yes, it would be intense and beautiful to have Dominque as his sub, but that wasn’t only what Jacob needed. He wanted the whole package, and with Dominque considering leaving his life as an escort behind, that was even more of a possibility.

He hated lying to his ma, more so than the rest of his family, but it was a sweet lie which would ease her fretting about him. She always worried he would be alone forever, and the thought of having someone nice in his life made her incredibly happy. She was getting on in years, almost eighty now, and she deserved some peace of mind even if it wasn’t true.

Jacob’s fingers actually shook as he typed back a response; thanking Dominque for attending the wedding and saying he would be in touch after speaking to his sister and getting the final details. He also thanked him for allowing him the chance to gain his trust and gave his word he would never break that trust no matter what.

As a Dom, he wanted to help heal this wounded bird and set him free to follow his own path, but as a man, he craved to cage that bird and keep him forever, to cherish and tend to his every need—the two sides of him battled.

He’d always kept his emotions and sexual needs separate. Now they were clashing, and Jacob had no idea how to stop them or meld them in a way which Dominque would enjoy. This was new for him, and he hated it and enjoyed it at the same time.

Dominque made it very clear what he expected, and that was distance. He wanted Jacob to help him heal and that was it. Perhaps when they got to that stage, he would feel differently, but what if his newfound confidence allowed him to find someone else? How would Jacob feel then, watching the man he’d dreamed about and craved all his life simply walk away with another?

Jacob fisted his hands together and released a measured breath. He couldn't control this situation. He had to let Dominque lead the way and could only follow. It was all about what he wanted and needed, and until Jacob got to know him better, it was mainly guess work. They needed time to bond, and this wedding was a perfect place to do it.

Dominque would be surrounded by people who would love him and watch out for him, people who he would feel safe with when things got too heavy between them. They would have moments where they would be alone and be able to talk, but also space to walk away when they felt the need. He wasn’t sure how Dominque would feel opening up his real self, and having to work at the same time. Something had to give, and Jacob was hoping it would be the character he played and not the true Dominque who would go into hiding.

In between making work calls, he sent a text to his sister, asking for all the details to be emailed over and told her Dominque would be coming. She was extremely excited when she called him, disturbing him from reading a patient’s medical file.

The wedding was back home in Scotland. With their elderly ma being unable to get around much, Helen had chosen one of the hotels up there. Well, by hotel, Jacob meant castle. It was situated in the middle of nowhere up in the Highlands and it was a place both of them had been dragged around as kids.

Newly refurbished and looking better than ever, Helen booked it two years ago. Of course, she hadn't planned on being as big as a house when she got married, but a baby was a blessing and she’d worked around her bump and was now enjoying having the little one in all the wedding arrangements.

Their family was huge. He had seven siblings and they all had families of their own to bring. It was a huge deal and Jacob had been going to attend alone, just planning to turn up on the day. The rest of the family was taking this whole thing to the extreme and using it as a holiday. Many rooms were booked out already with most of his brood choosing to stay the whole week.

The stag and hen parties were being held there two nights before the actual wedding, and Jacob was invited to join her partner to celebrate. Before that there was his ma’s birthday. His sister had planned out everything to the last detail and used the wedding as a joint event to celebrate their ma’s eightieth with all of her brood in one place. The fact he had no idea about this pissed him off, but checking through the many emails spanning two years from Helen, he saw she’d mentioned it several times.

With travelling times and taking into account everything, it meant he and Dominque would be there four days before the wedding itself, and if they left the day after, that still meant six days. He had no idea how much six days would cost him. A fortune obviously.

He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. Dominque could come down the day before the wedding, but he knew that wasn’t what he really wanted to happen. The longer they had together would help things move on, it was just what Dominque wanted which made him pause. They only had two days to arrange everything, and then they would have to leave.

He put together another email, this time forwarding on the venue and the detailed itinerary his obsessed sister had done for events and such, and then added, ‘I’m sorry, I had no idea. Feel free to let me know which dates you can do.’ Then he pressed send and waited. It didn’t take long before Dominque replied.

Morning, Mr Buchanan, ;)

First of all, Skibo Castle is amazing! Secondly, your sister is the most organised person I will ever meet! Is she available to freelance? Thirdly, you forgot about your mum’s birthday? Shame on you. LOL

Finally… Six days?

Jacob that will be so much money. I called Suzie at the office to get a rough idea and taking into account it’s just companionship (which I’m not sure about with all this other stuff going on, but as that’s between me and you, I didn’t say anything) it will be two basic charges per day. That’s a thousand pounds a day. I argued with her about it and got it down to four as a block booking with the promise (I lied) that I would convince you to get me in bed :D

Looking at this itinerary (Wow! She’s planned loads –birthday party, baby shower, hen party, wedding, post wedding party… I take it you guys don’t meet up often as a family :D) It would involve a lot of messing around if I turned up later travel-wise, etc. I can find a sitter for my sister, it’s a long time away from her, but to be honest, she hates me right now and isn't talking to me anyway, so maybe it’s for the best. I don’t know what you’d want to do, but if you’re willing to agree with the four grand, then I will do it.

Let me know. D.

Jacob smiled at the relaxed tone Dominque used. It wasn’t just him dealing with a client, it was friendlier. He laughed out loud at the joke about getting him into bed. Dominque wouldn’t have to do much for that to happen.

Four grand was actually lower than he thought. The first figure of six was more what he’d been expecting, and even then he thought it would be more. Four thousand pounds was a huge expense and not one he would take lightly, but…

The four thousand is fine. I’ll call the agency up and sort it out myself later this evening. The last email detailed the dress code, etc. for the wedding, but everything else is what you want to wear.

Let me know where you need me to collect you from and I’ll be there early Wednesday morning to pick you up in Leeds as it’s on the way.

You’re far more relaxed about this whole thing than I am. You’re right, as a family, we very rarely are in the same place at the same time, and I don’t want to talk you out of this because I'm happy to have you with me, but I have seven siblings and they’re all insane. Helen is practically normal. Yes! They’re that bad. You’ll be a welcome piece of sanity for me to cling onto.

I have to run off into surgery for the rest of the day, but will catch up later.

Jacob

Before he stood up, Dominque emailed back simply saying not to worry about the agency. He would sort it all out and to have a good day. It was followed by two kisses this time and Jacob smiled as he switched the laptop off.

Now everything was finalised, Jacob felt less stressed, but then he remembered the wedding and everything else and sighed. It really would be a huge test of character for him to survive such a long time in the presence of his family and he hoped Dominque was going to be okay.

They were all touchy people, invading your personal space constantly, and they knew nothing about brain to mouth filter and said what they felt. Jacob was sure he’d been dropped off by aliens in a basket because he was so very different from them all. At least this time he would have Dominque with him and he made everything seem easier to handle somehow.
