Should I try to text her? Was that the best thing to do at this point?

I wanted to talk to her, to apologize for my behavior. She probably wanted to have a bit of time alone. I put my phone away.
We probably shouldn’t talk about this right now.

I sat down on the bed and sighed. I wanted to talk to her so much. At the same time, I wanted to keep things in check.
Damn, I’m losing my mind.
Deep down, I knew nothing would stop me from having her.

Lila

I made it home in record time. When I opened the door, Natalie was in the living room watching TV. When she saw me, she immediately turned it off and smiled.

“So…how did it go?” she asked.

There was a small cat-like expression on her face, like she was studying a mouse and waiting for it to twitch. I knew there was no use hiding it. She would find out one way or another that I’d had sex with him. If I lied, she would nag the truth out of me.

“It was good. Really good.” I refused to tell her right away. She looked at me like a little kid who found out that there was a surprise waiting for them at home.

“So what did you do?”

“Well, we went out to dinner at this really nice restaurant and I was having a great time. Then we went to a club and things got a tiny bit out of hand. I got drunk and then… things happened,” I replied. I didn’t want to tell her about having sex with him just yet. She could find out about that on her own.

“What do you mean…
things
happened? When you walked in, you were glowing. I thought that you had sex with him. I’d be a little surprised, but, damn…” I got a bit nervous at her searching expression. After that, I kept quiet while she continued to gush for a while.

I knew she continued to think about it, then turned to me and gaped. I blushed a little bit and she immediately grinned.

“Oh my God, you did!”

I could feel my face turn crimson. Her smile widened and she started nodding like she was a little kid who just discovered what her parents were getting her for Christmas. I was so fucking embarrassed. I knew that I had to tell her. She would not get off my back if I didn’t admit it.

“Yes, I did.”

“Oh my fucking…” A gasp flew out of her. “How many times did you cum? What’s he like in bed? Holy shit…how big is he? You fucked a
rock star!

She seemed about to faint. My cheeks burned even more. I had never met a woman who was so bent on finding out the details of my sex life.

I simply nodded. “Yeah. It was amazing. And I was happy that I did it. Of course, there’s stuff I need to think about. Plus, it was our second date.” My stomach rolled. “I mean…hell, I didn’t fuck my ex until about three months into the relationship. I only did that because he was pressuring me into actually doing it instead of letting me make the first move.”

“Good God, It’s not the end of the world, Lila. I mean, he’s hot as fuck. I don’t think any girl who could resist him unless they were a full-out lesbian and their pussy belonged to Ellen DeGeneres or something.”

I had to laugh at that. Natalie could be a bit crude, but it was funny to hear. It did make me feel better. She laughed too, and rolled her eyes at me.

“Thanks, Nat. I’m glad that you feel comfortable talking about this. And that you don’t think I’m a whore for jumping his bones.” If I told any of the other rich kids who were my
friends
, they would probably never let me live it down and my father would find out. Even though Natalie was pretty forward about sex, she was a great friend to talk to about sex and any male shit.

“Not a problem. And don’t worry…I’d imagine he’s irresistible. I mean, hell, most girls would’ve jumped him the night they met him. At least you waited.”

“True. Anyway, I need to get rid of this migraine. I drank way too damn much,” I replied.

“Ahh…the fun of hangovers. There’s some medicine in the cabinet. If you need anything else, let me know. I’m here for you. And congrats. Oh…you’re on the pill, right?”

I nodded, blushing all over again. I was relieved about being on the pill. I only did it so that I could have less painful and more regular periods.
At least, I don’t have to worry about pregnancy.

After I grabbed one of the pills from the medicine cabinet and drank it down, I went back to my room and sat on the bed. My body told me that today would be a sleep day. First, I knew that I had to do one thing. I would feel a whole lot better afterward. It would put my mind to rest. I pulled out my phone and searched for Chase’s number. I would text him what I felt. Nat had reassured me…I wasn’t the only woman who would have done such a thing. I was still pretty embarrassed.

What the hell was I thinking? That’s the problem…I wasn’t!

Chase

I sat in the hotel room, trying to get ready for today. I had a meeting soon. After I showered and dressed, I sat back down. I still felt like shit and a huge part of me needed to settle things with Lila right now. I moved over to grab my phone and smiled at the locked screen saver photo. It was Lila and I holding hands; the selfie that we took at the Bean. I loved that picture. Just as I was about to open my phone, a message from Lila popped up.

Hey there. Sorry about leaving so soon. I was a bit nervous. But I had a ton of fun last night. And I have to admit that it was amazing in some ways. However, that was unlike me and I need some space to figure myself out. I’m not mad at you. I just need a bit of time to figure things out.

I read the message, happy that I didn’t completely botch this whole thing. Still, it made me nervous to hear that she was still awkward about the night before. It felt different, but that’s what I liked about it. I loved hearing that I made her happy. She had been a rough, sensual surprise, an unexpected ride that packed a wallop. I understood what was wrong on her end. She just wasn’t like that. Alcohol had done a number on her. But I wanted her and that echoed around in my mind like the beginnings of a song that I knew would be a hit.

I quickly responded with a short yet sweet text. I would give her space. She wasn’t the only one that knew how to do that.

I understand. Take some time to figure some things out. I’ll be around.

I sent the message and headed to the meeting while trying to figure out what to do next. I had to play the waiting game, and although that sucked, I knew it would be for the best. I wanted Lila, and I was willing to wait for her and get her when the time was right.

Good things were supposed to come to those who wait, right?

Chapter Six

Lila

The rest of the day, I passed out on my bed. I had never slept the day away like that before, but I woke up refreshed and restored. I needed to attend a study meeting. When I arrived, I could see a couple of the guys looking curiously at me. I probably still looked like shit. I felt like crap as well. I could have worn a bit of makeup, but that would have drawn attention.

I read Chase’s text and immediately felt better. I did need some space. I was happy that he understood. My thoughts continued to swirl around in an attempt to make sense. Studying was easier said than done, though, and soon I felt more tired than before.

The next day, I remembered that I had to go on a date with Alec in order to appease my father. When I got up, I immediately grimaced. It was tonight, and I definitely didn’t want to go out with him. I was annoyed to say the least.

Night came faster than I wanted. Dread had been my friend all day. I wore a simple black dress, curled my hair, and put on a tiny bit of makeup. I really wasn’t even trying. Alec came to the apartment and knocked on the door. I walked up and gave him a weak smile.

“My, don’t you look gorgeous.”

I blushed a little bit and pretended to be nice. He was a slender guy with brown hair and a clean face. He was a bit taller than me, but nothing special. The only thing sexy about him was his money. There were no other redeeming qualities besides that.

“Hey there. Let’s get going,” I replied.

I ran out before Natalie could ask what the hell was going on. She knew that I liked Chase. I could just hear her blurt out
why are you with this loser?

I hated going. However, I knew that making my father happy would make me happier…and less stressed. I suspected that it was only a matter of time before my father drove me insane.

We went to a five-star restaurant. The entire time, Alec kept talking about his classes and how they were going. He kept bragging that he was majoring in three subjects. I tried to feign interest, but most of the time; I didn’t give a rat’s ass. I was majoring in three subjects too, but I didn’t brag as if I’d become The President by the end of college.

We went to some Indian restaurant even though I had explicitly told him that I didn’t like Indian food. I wasn’t a fan of the spices used. When we got there, I nearly walked out on the date. Normally I gave guys a chance but this was pathetic. He didn’t listen to a damn thing I said, and interrupted me constantly. I couldn’t believe I’d gone out with this loser. I figured either his rambling or the food would give me horrible acid reflux later on.

Fuck this.

When we weren’t talking about classes, Alec ran his mouth about his photography business too. Besides inheriting his dad’s company, he had some work in photography and kept talking to me about that. He then moved on to the subject of his family and his wealth. At some point, I thought about how good it would feel to strangle him. I wouldn’t actually do that, but it was damned tempting.

He told me about his dad’s business expanding. He rattled off so many damn numbers and figures that I could feel my head spinning. Then he told me about taking a vacation to Italy after he graduated college.

Since when do I give a shit about any of this?

After another five minutes of him trying to impress me with his knowledge of Italian culture, he looked over at me and smiled, “You know, you’re so damn beautiful. A gorgeous woman…and very smart too. You would make the perfect bride.”

I almost gagged. I had heard a play-by-play of his life up until now. And
then
he compliments me by hinting at marriage!?

What the fuck?!

I was so done, so
fucking done
with this. Thankfully, the entrée came and I put all of my attention and effort into the meal instead of having to listen to him blabber for another fucking hour. I almost fainted from relief when he shoved a bite of food in his mouth. It felt like the food took forever to get here, and a part of me wondered if he’d made that happen on purpose. There was no way in hell I could go through with this again. No fucking way.

I ate slowly, trying to savor the food and making sure that I had something to put my attention on for the next however long it took to get out of here. Meanwhile, Alec continued to blabber on about his life between bites. I was regaled with what he was doing and every detail of his law school experience. Apparently, he would attend Harvard after this, which was helpful since I didn’t have to hear or see him again. He then told me that his father was in Dubai, that he might already have some connections to people there, and that he may be an ambassador and lawyer for legal issues in other countries. That sounded boring as shit. I was getting irritable and tired. I didn’t know what to do at that point, except count down the bites of food that he had left.

He continued to run his mouth for another hour, only stopping a few times to awkwardly touch me and tell me how beautiful I was and that he wanted to make me his wife. I shuddered, fearing my soul would wither and die at the thought. I could only imagine that he would give me a curfew of eight p.m. or some shit like that. He certainly wasn’t the type to let me live my own damn life.
This Is Hell
. Thankfully, he finally finished and told me he was ready to leave. I nearly ran to the limo and didn’t wait for the driver to open the door. I endured more of his voice on the ride home, but knew it would be over soon.

When we arrived at my apartment, he looked at me and smiled, “Well, this was really fun. I hope we can do it again.” His voice was cheesy, and his smile was weak. I had to get the fuck out of the limo…
NOW
. There was no way I could do that again.

“Maybe we will,” I politely replied.

The driver opened the door and Alec swooped in for the slimiest, nastiest kiss on the mouth. I almost bit his tongue when he pushed it between my lips, but opening my mouth would have given him access. It was disgusting. Thankfully, it was only for a second. He pulled away and gave me a beaming grin. I ran out of the car.

When I got home, I almost fell through the door. Natalie asked where I was. I ignored her and ran to the bathroom to wash my mouth out with soap. She whipped her head around and looked at me with a worried expression on her face.

“You okay?”

I finally spat out a mouthful of suds and swished again, then looked at her and shook my head. “Hell no. I had to go on a date with Alec. Worst experience ever. It was super bland, he was boring as hell, and then he tried to french me at the end. “I gagged into the sink.
