Zombie Elementary Kaelor's Perspective (8 page)

“I’m tired.
I’m going to find a bed and sleep there” Mari said while getting up and heading towards a cell on the right wall.

“I wouldn’t go in cell, 6-B” Jason said while squatting next to Aoi.

“Why?” Mari asked.

“Cause, that’s big John’s cell, and his sheets were always filled with some type of blood that came from his cuts.
He was emo, so you’d expect the cuts.  Emo stands for

emotional issues in case you didn’t know.” Marcus said as he bent over next to me.

I rolled my eyes.  “I know that!”

“We’ll have to put you in the infirmary tomorrow, Kohaku.  Are you okay with that?” Kaelinda asked.

Kohaku nodded his head. “Do you think you can walk? Or do you need help?” Kaelinda asked.

“No, I can walk” Kohaku replied.

“Oh, so it’s not broken, it’s just sprained?” Lequisha asked.

“I guess. I don’t know!
My mom never taught me how to tell if something was sprained or broken!” Kaelinda replied.

I
stood up.

“Where are you going, brunette?” Marcus asked me.

“To a bed, I’m tired” I replied.  I then walked to the cell that read, 7-A and sat on the bottom bunk. The sheets were spread on the bed properly. I looked out the window of the cell.  It was dark outside. I looked at my wrist watch. It read 6:00P.M.

Wow, school has just finished, and I thought it was 9:00!  I moved my arm away from my face. I noticed some marks on my forearm.  I bought my forearm up close to my face and saw burn marks.  It must have been from the wood when it touched the electric fence.  So wood burns, and I thought it was a good grounding source.  I smiled to myself while thinking.  I guess, the textbooks at school aren’t so accurate after all.

“You mind if I share this room with you?” Aoi asked.

I looked up from my arm examination.  “No, I don’t mind but, you’re going to get the top bunk” I replied.

Aoi moved from the doorway to the foot rails of the bed.  She put her bag on the floor and began to climb the foot rails to the top bunk. She got on the bunk and I heard a creaking noise. “I’m setting an alarm for 9:00 P.M. so don’t be mad if it wakes you up out of your sleep” Aoi said as I saw light reflect on the ceiling.

“Okay” I replied as I layed down on my bed.
After thirty minutes of thoughts I drifted into sleep.

Chapter 4:
Well Hello There!

Aoi’s
alarm woke me up. It was a nice Japanese song. I rubbed my eyes.  I didn’t get that much sleep, but I still felt a little more energized.  I continued to lie on the bed listening to the music, waiting for Aoi to wake up. The tune was very catchy and it sounded like a rock song. I sang along with it in my head as it played over and over again.  I heard a yawn, and the bed creaked.

Aoi was awake.  She stopped the alarm and jumped off the bed, holding her phone. “You coming?”  Aoi asked as she stood staring at me.

I nodded and got up off of the bed. We walked out the cell and toward the door that was heavily locked.  It had all these locks on it.

“Oh my, we need Blake to open the door” Aoi whispered.

“You need these?” I heard a boy say. We both turned around slowly.

I crossed my fingers and closed my eyes.
When I opened my eyes it was Edmund behind us, holding the keys that Blake had earlier.

“Yes” Aoi whispered as she went towards him to get the key.

Edmund held the keys up and said “No sir, you can’t have these-”

Aoi cut him off. “Give them to me” Aoi whispered loud enough for him to hear.

Edmund placed his finger to Aio’s mouth silencing her. “Wait, you didn’t let

me finish. I was saying, no sir you can’t have these unless I can come.”

“Where you guys going” Hana-yon asked as she came out of a cell rubbing her eyes.

“How did you guys wake up?” I asked.

“Don’t be stupid.
One of you guys set an alarm and it was pretty loud” Hana-yon said while stretching.

“Who else is awake?” Aoi asked in a sarcastic tone, while closing her eyes and messaging her right temple.

“Us” Paige and Kaelinda said while coming out of a cell together with linked arms.

Aoi rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.

“I’m awake” Lequisha says while walking toward us.

“Oh Lequisha, please stay here and tell everyone else that we left with the keys.

Don’t let them leave.  Here take this” I said as I passed Lequisha my android phone.  “Call, Aoi if you need us to come back. Okay?” I said as I rubbed her hair.

“Okay” Lequisha s
aid with a thumbs up and headed back to her cell.

“Oh yeah, and you can play with the games on my phone.
Feel free to download any if you want!” I said.

“So I guess it’s decided. We’re coming with you guys.” Edmund said as he walked toward the door.

“Wait, it only unlocks from the outside.
There should be another door here somewhere” I said while remembering when we came in.

“Nonsense! You think Blake is a
dummy? He didn’t close the door all the way, he left a little crack so we could exit obviously.” Edmund said while chuckling a little.

I frowned. Outsmarted by a person with lower grades, again!

“Make sure you guys come back” a boy said.

We all froze. It sounded like Blake.

I turned around. “Of course we’ll come back, we need this place for shelter” I said trying to hide how scared I was. I didn’t expect Blake to be awake.

“Honestly, in my opinion you guys are fools.
I don’t know what you guys could possibly want to do, but if one of you makes it back alive please bring some snacks. Oh, and if you see an old guy in the woods,

don’t be fooled by his reversed psychology and his riddles.  He will kill you if you don’t answer him right. Well, that’s if he’s still alive” Blake said.

“Oh wait, Blake can you please watch over Kohaku?” Kaelinda asked him.

“I’ll make Mari and Lequisha do it” he said as he shrugged and turned around.

“Well, what are we going to carry the snacks back in?” Paige asked.

“I don’t know, find something.” Blake replied as he went into a cell.

“Oh my gosh. I’m not bringing anything cause’ I don’t see anything that I can use” Paige said.

“Oh yeah!” Aoi said as she walked back to the cell we slept in. When she came out she had her bag. “Here, we can use this” she said.

That reminded me of the staffs she gave us to use, I went back to the cell, and grabbed the staff out from under the bed. I came out and I guess everyone else remembered so they all went to get theirs.

Aoi already had hers in her hand, while she put the bag on her back. “Let’s go.” she said as she pulled the door our way and walked out.

I followed behind.

“Ay! Don’t you leave us!” Kaelinda said jogging up to us while we walked down the white hallway.

“I’m surprised he didn’t close this.” I said as we walked past the parallel doors.

“Oh well, whatever.” Aoi said as we walked down the stairs.

I turned my head to look behind me. I saw Edmund, Paige, Kaelinda, and Hana-yon.

“What are you lookin’ at?” Edmund said.

“I don’t know yet.” I said as I turned my head forward and smirked.

Paige, Kaelinda, and Hana-yon laughed.

We reached the heavily locked door that led to the room full of doors.

“Edmund, come unlock this.” I said.

“Don’t tell me what to do,” he said as he came to the door with the keys, trying to figure out which key went in the locks.
After five minutes, he managed to get the fifth lock, and it only took a minute to get the sixth lock. He opened the door, and we all walked into the room.

“We need the code, so that when we return, we can get inside the building” I said, remembering when Blake tapped in the code to enter the building.

“I’ll text your phone so Lequisha can give it to us” Aoi said as she went into her contacts and clicked my name. There was a picture of me in a bathing suit standing next to Aoi who was also in a bathing suit, smiling, while we were in front of a big pool that had a lot of other kids in it.

“Is that picture from fun world universe?” I asked Aoi.

“Yup, it is” she replied as she sent my phone a text message asking, Lequisha to get the code from Blake.

“Now let’s go.
Hopefully, she replies.  Then Aoi’s phone rang. Her ringtone was another nice sounding Japanese song. It sounded soft and sad, like it was about a heart break. Aoi sang along with it. I had no idea what she was saying, but I liked how the song sounded. She looked at the message. It read:

Alright, let’s go!” she said walking toward the door we used to enter the building.

We walked out the building.

“Hey, there is a light in the woods” Edmund said while trying to catch his breath.

I turned my head to look into the woods and saw a light too.

“We shouldn’t approach it.” Aoi said in a cautious tone.

“Whatever, but it looks like they might have food! I haven’t eaten at all today. So bye.”  Edmund said as he ran toward the light in the woods.

That’s how he always gets when he’s hungry.
He forgets about everything, and eats whatever can be eaten.

I ran after him.
This boy always needs me to help him whenever he gets in this state.  He almost ate a dead mouse that

the janitor killed.  That’s a whole different story.  I rolled my eyes as I ran after him. He was pretty fast.

“Edmund slow down!” I yelled as I tried to speed up so that I would be right behind him.

BAM!
A smaller tree branch hit my face. I grunted as I kept running. I think it left a splinter in my face. I shook my head and kept running after him.

“Slow down Kaelor.  You don’t know what you’re doing! Just leave him!” I heard

them
yell as they came running after me. As we got closer to the light, Edmund disappeared from my eyesight.
