Unbridled Temptation (4 page)

He very simply hadn’t wanted to say no to her. She smelled like flowers and sunlight. And the adorable freckles across her nose made his cock stir in lust even just thinking about them.

“When is it ever okay to put your lips on a customer? Huh? When?” Kendall asked, although his tone was not of anger, but more a question to his own actions. “We’ve got any number of reporters, journalists, and bloggers on our ass each and every day, accusing us of running a whorehouse in town or worse. So today you decide it would be perfect to not only kiss a passenger, but lead her out of the sight of the other passengers to do God knows what to her? And by the way, one of the other passengers was filming you, for God’s sake. It’s probably already gone viral on YouTube by now.”

Kendall was right.
Shit
. Logan knew he’d fucked up, but not surprisingly, he wasn’t really sorry. Rule number one stated that they were not ever supposed to get personal with customers, even if the passengers initiated something. However, for the very first time, he hadn’t been able to help himself. He pushed out a long sigh. “I understand your concerns, Kendall. But I’m not saying I’m sorry. So deal with it, and move on.”

If she waltzed back here and tried to kiss him again, Logan didn’t plan to stop her. In fact, he wanted to change clothes, head back to his regular domain at the stable, and clear his thoughts to be ready if he happened to see her again. He genuinely hoped she’d wander by and he could approach her once more. He’d love to find out her name at the very least.

As if Kendall read his mind, he said, “And don’t even think about heading into town to look for her.”

“Why not? It isn’t as if I violated her, Kendall.
Shit
. She kissed me, too. And I kissed her back. The world as we know it didn’t come to an end.” Well, that wasn’t completely true. Logan’s world had tilted on its axis a little bit after kissing her and pulling her perfect body into his frame for a more intimate embrace. She fit against him like they’d been machined to fit together. He definitely wanted more. If she crossed his path again, he planned to do his damndest to persuade her to accompany him to dinner at the very least. Or whatever else she wanted to do.

“Well, not yet, but it’s still early in the day. Just stay away from her, okay?”

“No promises.” Logan walked over to his horse and gathered the reins. Lifting himself onto his saddle, he clicked his tongue and started a slow canter back to the stables. “I’ll meet you back in town.” Today was apparently the day for childish behavior. He didn’t want to cooperate and didn’t want to make any promises to Kendall that he didn’t plan to keep.

If he came anywhere near the gorgeous woman again, he’d convince her to at least have a drink at the saloon with him. Additionally, if she wanted a tour of the advertised “rooms rented by the hour upstairs” in the mock whorehouse, why then, he’d be happy to show her.

Kendall could either join them or not. His choice. But likely, if Kendall came in, the beautiful stranger that kissed like she wanted to eat him alive would depart. Then again, she had also kissed Kendall. Maybe today
was
the ideal day for unexpected possibilities.

Represented as the mock sheriff who’d rescued her from Logan, the masked desperado, Kendall must have appealed to her, as well. Perhaps she understood perfectly their ménage lifestyle choices. Perhaps she’d heard of what went on behind the walls of their private compound north of the amusement park. His sour attitude suddenly improved. Wouldn’t ménage sex with her be fun to contemplate for the rest of the day?
Absolutely
.

His best friend, the sheriff and the only one he also shared women with, didn’t try to stop him or follow after him as he left the stagecoach robbery area.

Logan rode straight to the town’s old-fashioned stables to quarter his horse, rub him down, and feed him. His mind was set on the task of trying to find the delectable stagecoach passenger again.

When he finished, Logan changed his clothing from mock stagecoach robber to local stable hand. He checked on things throughout the building, doing his job as stable master, but soon departed, heading down the wooden-planked walkways along the authentic nineteenth-century Western town.

Every one of the owners of this town managed a portion of the place as a fun hobby. By day they lived life as nineteenth-century shopkeepers, blacksmiths, and in his case a stable master and the like. There were also cowboys, desperados, and lawmen putting on mock bank robberies, staged shootouts in the streets, and the occasional stagecoach raid to give more action and excitement to the experience. Even though some of what they did here was only speculation and outright fabrication of what
truly
happened in the Wild West of yore. Being completely authentic wasn’t as much fun.

After the dusty streets closed, and the Old West Town park was put to bed each evening, the owners retreated to special places off-limits to any patrons of the park. They used a few of the buildings to act out their own fantasies, but never any place the public would ever see.

Unfortunately, there were those who’d attended a private party or two and then shot their mouths off to reporters about what often happened
afterhours
.

“So I see that you survived the gunshot and got away from the sheriff after all,” said a seductive and familiar voice from behind him.

Logan quickly turned to see the woman, freckles and all, from this morning’s stagecoach robbery. The mere sight of her punched his gut with recognition and lust. But he had a role to play here. Without thinking it through too much, he responded, “No, ma’am, you must have me confused with someone else. I’m the town’s stable master.”

“Is that so?” She grinned and his heart flipped over in his chest. The scent of her perfume drifted past his nose, and he edged a little bit nearer. Kendall would be unhappy about this meeting, but he found it difficult to care at the moment.

“Yep. I can help you if you need a horse or want a tour of the stables. Besides, I’m sure the sheriff dispatched the stagecoach robber.” He stopped himself from moving closer. With her golden, reddish hair and freckles calling to him at some primal level, Logan wasn’t going to be able to resist the urge to take her in his arms for very long. He really wanted to kiss her senseless. And then do more.

“Oh?” Her grin got even wider. The straight line of her white teeth mesmerized him. A flash of earlier memory assaulted him. He’d run the tip of his tongue carefully along that straight front edge of her teeth before dipping inside her mouth to tangle with her tongue. The recall sent a surge of lust to his groin so quickly he swore the blood shifting downward made him light-headed.

“How did you know it was a stagecoach robbery?” she asked.

Her question brought him out of his seductive reverie. Thinking on his feet, he said, “Because there’s
always
a stagecoach robbery. This can be dangerous territory, ma’am.”

She nodded, letting him off the hook momentarily. “I see. Well, I guess you’ve got me then. That makes complete sense.” She lifted one slim hand toward him. “I’m Jocelyn, by the way. And you’re Logan, is that right?” She grinned again. If he admitted to his name being Logan, he was also confessing to being the desperado from earlier.

He clasped her soft fingers in his, realizing that whatever he admitted was worth it. “Yes. My name is Logan. So, I guess you’ve got
me
now.”

“Well, I hope so,” she said, clasping his hand tighter. She pulled gently, and he took a step in her direction. She then stepped backward once more off of the wooden walkway between the buildings.

He also stepped down and moved closer, realizing suddenly that she was now standing in the narrow private space between buildings. The small quiet alley afforded them more and more privacy the further they moved away from the raised sidewalk.

Logan let himself be lured several feet before pausing. “Where are we going?”

“Off the beaten track.”

“Why?” he asked with a smile, but given her expression he already knew the answer. He’d never been pursued so relentlessly before. He’d always been the aggressor in every relationship in which he’d participated. At least for the past several years anyway.

The change was refreshing, but he wasn’t sure if a short-term relationship would work. He and Kendall did have particularly deep-seated tastes with regard to women, sex, and ultimately, relationships, long- or short-term. Then again, those sexy freckles across her nose were certainly worth a second look. He could play along and discover what she was after. Perhaps he could quench her desire with another kiss. Then again, perhaps she’d want even more if he kissed her. At this point, his primary goal was to try to entice her to want more.

“I wanted privacy this time.”

“This time?”

Her free hand cupped his cheek. His focus went to her lips and the shine of lip gloss she wore. “Given the kiss I got when we were in front of others, I wanted to know what you were capable of if we were ever alone.” She suddenly pressed her mouth to his.

Logan didn’t waste any time pretending he didn’t want to kiss her. He gripped her hand tighter in his grasp. He broke the kiss, grabbed her other hand still caressing his jaw, and quickly brought both of her hands around to the small of her back. He wrapped one foot around her calf and then tripped her, pushing the foot out from under her.

Suddenly off-balance, she fell backward. As her shoulders landed against the brick wall of the building, Logan pressed his chest into her soft breasts. He saw slight concern in her gaze the moment she realized she couldn’t stop his actions. Arms locked behind her, shoulders pressed to the wall, Jocelyn’s movements were blocked from any hope of escape.

She was well and truly under his control, right where he wanted her. The frown marring her expression deepened when she tried to dislodge her arms, but he held her in place.

“Now that we’re all alone, here’s what I’m capable of.” Logan blistered her mouth with the most seductive kiss he could manage. Licking his way between her lips to tangle with her tongue, Logan soon pressed his hips forward as his cock rose to the occasion. She tried to move her arms again, but he held her down. He liked having complete command of situations such as these. In fact, he insisted on utter control.

If this wasn’t the experience she was looking for and she tried to get loose again, Logan would back off and let her go. He ravished her mouth as forcefully as he dared until he heard the barest of moans from her throat. Smiling to himself in triumph, he then turned the kiss way up to the volcanic level. He pressed his rising cock into her belly to the same tempo as his tongue commanding the space in her mouth.

She only moaned louder with each push.

Logan was just about ready to move some clothing out of his way, unzip his pants, and go for it. With the very sweet and subdued Jocelyn pinned against the wall of this building and even in broad daylight, Logan suddenly wanted her with everything that was in him.

“Excuse me. Aren’t you the stable master here in town?” came the completely unwanted, yet not unfamiliar voice from the direction of the wooden sidewalk, disrupting his lusty desires.

Chapter Two

Kendall rode into town after what he considered the
debacle
at the mock stagecoach robbery with the intent to find Logan and scold him once more for his stupidity with the admittedly attractive passenger. Pretty or not, the beautiful girl was a stranger. They didn’t know who she was or her intent. What if she were the newest reporter sent to discover what imaginary lurid, prurient sexual acts went on in the local saloon on any given day? Maybe she was
just
an enthusiastic passenger. However, it was borrowed trouble he didn’t want to address currently.

While there were a few lurid and prurient sexual acts going on
after
hours, the Old West Town park was mostly family friendly. Well, PG-13, given the mild violence of the daily mock shootouts. At least until Logan devoured the lips of the beautiful guest this morning, it had been fairly tame anyway.

He’d immediately gone to his “sheriff’s” office and into a private room where the twenty-first century lived to discover the identity of the woman Logan was marking as “his woman” earlier.

“Jocelyn Demarco,” he read out loud from the computer screen showing her limited information and short video of her ticket purchase earlier at the entrance gate.

The name didn’t ring any bells of either recognition or alarm. If she was a reporter, blogger, or someone else out to get him, she was a newcomer. He pushed out a sigh, hoping for none of the above.

The front ticket office had already informed him there was a zealously overbearing freelance blogger already on the loose in town. The man reportedly only seeking the “truth” had done several articles on the Old West Town park and what he called “questionable practices” of the amusement park. Privately, when asked to stop, the jerk congratulated himself on giving their business helpful publicity.

Kendall wished the guy would stop giving them so much
helpful
publicity. The guy was a troublemaker. He always started out with some backhanded compliments stressing a sarcastic use of the word
authentic
with regard to their town and then asking pointed questions about what went on after the park closed.
