Dedication

During the writing of this story, I lost both of my parents. My dad passed away on December 15th of 2013 and six months and three days later on June 18, 2014, I lost my mom. The grief was almost too much, and there were times I did not think I would be able to complete this story. By sheer will and determination, I did finish, and now I am going to dedicate this project to them.

Prologue

Wedding Reception, Alex Metcalf’s Vineyard Estate…

Wheland was happy all the wedding formalities were done for the evening and the task of partying was at hand. Looking around the room at all the love and affection on display was beginning to grate on his nerves. Mainly because he didn’t have love in his own life and he was beginning to think it might be something he was destined never to find. He was truly thrilled Alex found his perfect tripod and married his soul mates, Chase and Danni. He was also okay with Cooper finding someone special, too.

Jury was still out on Cooper’s situation with Jayson working for the long term, but Wheland wanted Cooper to be happy. He knew Cooper better than most people and Cooper was never the kind of guy to commit to anything, except maintaining variety in his life and in his bed. And Wheland knew a little bit too much about being in bed with Cooper. Partly from the threesomes they’d shared over the last couple of years and also from the few occasions they’d messed around together on the tour bus without a third party. That was a long strange chapter in Wheland’s life, especially now that Cooper was, or seemed to be, with Jayson. It changed the dynamic of their relationship but not their friendship and Wheland was okay with that.

Wheland shrugged off an emotion that felt a lot like sadness and decided to take a break from watching Cooper slow dancing on the parquet floor with Jayson. He made his way through the crowd of guests toward the back entrance of Alex’s home and stepped through the open slider door into the kitchen. He glanced around the crowded room, saw mostly the catering staff, and walked down the hallway off the kitchen to the bathroom.

After relieving himself and washing his hands, Wheland caught his reflection in the mirror above the sink. He looked worn, his hazel eyes lacking any sparkle and his normally tanned skin somehow seemed pale. His fingers rubbed at the deep brown whisker growth across his chin, and he finger-combed his thick, mahogany colored hair before he pushed it off the collar of his shirt. He thought about arranging a haircut once he got back to L.A. while he undid another button on his white dress shirt and rolled the sleeves up to his elbows.

A moment later, Wheland opened up the bathroom door and stepped into the hallway. He walked right into the same waiter he bumped into on the beach before the commitment ceremony. The smile now lifting Wheland’s lips felt good, as did the quickened pace of his heart. This young piece of man-meat was just the shot of adrenaline he needed to get through the rest of this day.

“You’re the guy I slammed into before the ceremony on the beach,” Wheland said.

“I am,” the waiter said.

“Twice in one night,” Wheland said, using the sexiest vocal tone he could muster. “I guess that makes me a total klutz.”

“No worries,” the man said. “Can I get you something from the bar?”

Wheland tilted his head. The guy was obviously still in full-force waiter mode. Revealing nothing more than a hint of a smile, the twinkle in his eyes gave him away. If Wheland hadn’t torn his gaze away from the man’s mouth, he might have missed the signal he was getting from his eyes. At least he hoped it was a signal?

Shit! Don’t over think this – just go for it!

“What time are you done for the night?” Wheland asked.

“Not for a few more hours.”

“Interested in joining me for a drink when you’re finished?” Wheland asked. The eye contact they were maintaining was hot and Wheland felt his cock beginning to thicken behind the zipper of his pants.

“We’re not supposed to fraternize with the guests,” the man said.

“Do you always do what you’re told?” Wheland asked. His eyes burned over the man’s face, down onto his firm chest, and lifted back up to his mouth. When he saw those plump lips slant up into a lop-sided grin, Wheland’s eyes met his. The waiter’s stormy blue-gray, with dilated pupils, met his own lust filled gaze.

“Depends on what I’m being asked to do and the risk involved,” the man said, his smile never faltering.

“I’m Wheland,” he said, and extended his hand. It hung there in limbo for a beat before the man shook it. “I’m asking you to join me after work for a drink and I’ll make sure the risk involved is worth it.”

Wheland felt himself heat as he watched the man’s eyes rake over his body. The waiter’s eyes searched him head to toe and every spot in between. The man didn’t hurry with his visual inspection, nor did he attempt to hide it. When his eyes finally lifted to Wheland’s again, Wheland was fully tenting his pants.

“I’m Jeremy,” he said. “Meet me out front in the driveway around one – unless that’s too late for you.”

Wheland chuckled at that comment. “The night is just beginning at one,” he replied.

“I had a feeling you’d think that,” Jeremy said. He scanned Wheland’s body again and smirked when his eyes settled on Wheland’s groin. “Looks like you might not be able to wait that long.”

“Don’t worry about me,” Wheland said. “I’ll take a cold shower if I have to and I’ll be waiting for you. Try not to be late.”

Jeremy nodded and turned to walk away. Wheland had half a mind to grab Jeremy by the shoulder, spin him around, and plant a hungry kiss on him. Maybe that would give Jeremy something to think about while he worked. But Wheland fought that urge and let Jeremy disappear into the sea of guests crowding the kitchen area. One o’clock would come soon enough. He’d just have to be patient.

Turned out patience wasn’t one of Wheland’s virtues. By the time one o’clock came, Wheland was ready to lose his mind. Partly from the fact it had been such a long time since he’d gotten laid, and also because he’d never made a habit of hitting on hot guys. In fact, outside of a quick blowjob from their road crew director, Spumoni, Cooper was the only man Wheland had ever been with. Not the best track record when it came to man-on-man action, but Wheland was curious to see where this new chapter of his life took him. Jeremy seemed like a nice place to start that journey.

Wheland walked across the thick carpet of manicured lawn that ran the length of the crushed seashell driveway all the way to the street in front of Alex’s estate. He stopped when he reached the driveway and pulled his cell phone from his pant pocket to check the time. He was five minutes early to meet Jeremy and decided to spark the joint he had rolled earlier. He pulled the joint from his shirt pocket, used a lighter to flame the tip of it to life, and inhaled deeply. He was releasing the hit from his lungs when he heard footsteps behind him on the driveway. Wheland turned to see Jeremy smiling broadly at him.

“Right on time,” Wheland said. He extended his hand to offer the joint to Jeremy, but Jeremy waved it off.

“No thanks,” Jeremy said. “I don’t smoke, but go ahead if you want to.”

“Nah, I shouldn’t either,” Wheland said. He snuffed out what was left to the joint using the back of his phone, then flicked it into the bushes on the opposite side of the driveway. He looked back at Jeremy and noticed he had removed his black bow tie, unbuttoned the first two buttons of his white work shirt, and had the sleeves rolled up to the elbow, which revealed tattoos on both forearms. A tiny bit of chest hair was exposed in the open “V” of the shirt and Wheland found himself wanting to see a whole lot more of the waiter’s chest.

“Still want that drink?” Wheland asked.

“I didn’t think you were serious about that,” Jeremy said. “I got the impression you were more interested in going somewhere private?”

“Shit.
The guy gets right to the point, doesn’t he?”
Wheland thought. “Yeah, come on,” he replied. “We can use the back entrance up to the guest room I’m using.”

A few minutes later, Jeremy followed Wheland down the hallway toward the second floor guest rooms. Wheland opened the door to his room, flipped on the wall light switch, and stepped inside. Once Jeremy joined him, he shut and locked the door.

Wheland walked across the carpeted room. He deposited the contents of his pockets, his cell phone, and lighter onto the top of a dresser. He turned back to Jeremy and noticed he was scanning the room. Wheland stayed quiet and waited for Jeremy’s eyes to bounce back to him.

“Pretty girly for a rock star,” Jeremy remarked.

The flowery Laura Ashley décor was an obvious contradiction to the musician standing in the room and that made Wheland laugh.

“It’s a rental,” Wheland said with a smirk. “Not my room.”

“I figured as much,” Jeremy said.

“So, you know who I am?” Wheland asked.

“Of course I do,” Jeremy answered. “I Googled you on my break to be sure.”

Wheland took a few slow steps closer. “And what did Google tell you about me?”

“Well, what Google
didn’t
tell me was anything about you being into dudes,” Jeremy said.

Wheland cocked his head. “Is there actually a section on Google that lists one’s sexual preferences?” He asked the question in a sarcastic tone and slid another few inches forward.

Jeremy smiled. “Nope, but there is usually one or two articles that give hints or rumors to it. You had nothing in print and every photograph had you with women.”

“I never thought I owed the general public an explanation on who I fucked,” Wheland said.

Jeremy shrugged one muscled shoulder. “I wanted to make sure I wasn’t misreading your signals.”

“Why didn’t you just ask me?” Wheland asked. He was close enough to touch Jeremy, but he didn’t. Instead, Wheland stood in front of him looking down at him; using the three to four inches of height he had over Jeremy to size up the man. After witnessing what the media did to Alex when he was outed a few years back, Wheland didn’t want to take chances. His personal life was his to own and he wouldn’t let a random fuck jeopardize that.

Jeremy’s head tipped back to maintain eye contact with Wheland. Wheland’s hand clamped around Jeremy’s neck; his thumb directly over his Adam’s apple. The sudden movement had Jeremy flinching. Wheland kept the pressure on Jeremy’s Adam’s apple light and felt it sliding up and down beneath the skin of his palm. It was hard to miss the dilation of Jeremy’s pupils and Wheland smiled. Apparently, Jeremy liked it a little rough. Wheland tucked that bit of information away to use over the next hour.

Repeatedly.

“Let me know if you’re planning on writing some kind of tell-all about me fucking you,” Wheland said. “I’ll be sure to have my lawyer on speed dial.”

Jeremy’s fingers wrapped around Wheland’s wrist. “Not how I roll,” Jeremy said. He tried to loosen the hold Wheland had on his throat but failed. “Can’t blame me for wanting to know who’s fucking me.”

Wheland dipped his head; his lips hovered directly over Jeremy’s. He could feel the heat of Jeremy’s breath bathing his face. “Oh, I’ll definitely be fucking you.”

Wheland licked at Jeremy’s lips first, then covered his mouth when Jeremy opened for him. The kiss Wheland offered wasn’t delicate. It was fierce and hot and Wheland didn’t stop until he needed air to breathe. They pulled apart and stumbled back toward the bed and Wheland fell on top of Jeremy. He pressed Jeremy’s back into the mattress with his chest and held Jeremy’s arms above his head. He ground his groin against Jeremy’s; happy to feel they were both good to go.

“You bottom?” Wheland asked.

Jeremy nodded. “I can.”

“You will with me,” Wheland said and bit at Jeremy’s bottom lip.

A few hours later, Wheland bounced down the front stairs of Alex’s house while Jeremy hurried behind him, as he buttoned up his shirt. Wheland could hear Jeremy’s footsteps and smiled to himself. Had it been the best sex he’d ever experienced? Fuck no. Although it was pretty damned good. The reason behind Wheland’s mile wide smile was simple. He’d topped the hell out of Jeremy and done so in every position he knew... twice.
