Finding Kat (18 page)

But, suddenly out of nowhere, a car came at us from the opposite direction. Cade cursed and I willed the driver to move and get back in their lane, but the car seemed determined to force us into making the move out of the way. Cade waited until the last moment in the hopes that the driver would come to his senses, but he didn’t. So he was forced to turn the wheel sharply to the left and onto a sidewalk that was luckily uncrowded. He had just enough time to slow down a little and then we hit the signpost that ordered us to stop.

The next few moments were a delirious blur as I was propelled forward, the airbag released, and I hit my head on something. I could hear a muffled voice calling my name but couldn’t seem to rouse myself enough to reply.

I must have lost consciousness for a minute or two because when I next became aware of my body, and its surroundings, I was laying down on a hard surface, with my upper body cradled in Cade’s arms.

“Katherine, sweetheart. Can you hear me? I need you to open your eyes for me baby.” His fingers traced a gentle path across my cheek as I struggled to get my mind and eyes to obey my commands.

I managed to flutter my lashes and groaned at the sudden onslaught of pain that presented itself in my head and in a general ache in my whole body.

“There you are, sweetheart. We had an accident and the ambulance is on its way. It’s having a hard time making it through all the traffic that piled up behind us. There were a few other wrecks. You hit your head but I think you are going to be all right. We just need you checked for a concussion. I’m right here baby.”

I opened my eyes fully then and gave myself a moment to digest the information and take in the amazing view that is Cade Walker.

“You’re so pretty.” I said with as much of a smile as my pain would allow.

He let out a strangled chuckle and clutched me a little tighter. He seemed to breathe easier at my silly words.

“Oh sweetheart. I’m happy to see the bump in your head didn’t rattle anything around anymore than it already was.” He winked at me and kissed my lips softly.

“You’re going to have to do better than that if you plan to get to second base.” I closed my eyes for a second to try to block out the sounds and lights that were hurting my head.

“Baby. I know you like to fantasize about me, but you need to keep your eyes open for me until the ambulance gets here.” His words held a lightness that was missing from his tone of voice.

“Don’t worry rock star. I’m still here. I was just picturing your ass. I once heard it said that your ass has magical powers and I was really hoping it was true.”

He laughed aloud then and I smiled up at him. People would think we were crazy for laughing at the scene of an accident but I knew he got me. He knew that I needed this to keep myself from going insane from the pain and the anger at what happened.

The ambulance pulled up a few minutes later and the EMT looked us both over and confirmed my concussion. He was only an EMT and not qualified to diagnose me. He strongly recommended that we go to the hospital and let the doctor run tests. I didn’t want to make light of my situation and I knew that I was in a lot of pain, but going to the hospital would cause the paparazzi to descend and I didn’t want to interfere with the hospital’s work.

Cade told me that he had a doctor on call, that we could go to her clinic to run the tests, and then she could make house calls to check on me. The perks of being a rock star, I suppose. Cade called a car and after signing a few forms, we drove to the clinic. When we pulled up a nurse met us the door with a wheel chair and took me back. The doctor was very nice and comforting. She told me that I needed a CT scan to check for injuries to the brain. She said it was necessary because I lost consciousness and had a bad headache. When the CT came back clear, she advised me to take Tylenol for pain and for Cade to keep a close eye on me.

I didn’t even have the energy to enjoy checking out his house and ended up being carried from the cab to his bedroom. It was too dark to really get a look around but I closed my eyes and let the pain medicine ease the ache so I could sleep. I vaguely hear him whisper something into my ear as he kisses my face repeatedly and pulls a blanket over my tired body.

The night passes in a blur of medicine and whispered words waking me up to check on me. Every time I woke up because of pain he would give me a new pill and softly play with my hair until I went back to sleep. At some point, I thought I heard him answer a call to my mother but it could have been a dream.

I woke up fully and with a headache and couldn’t deny my need to go to the bathroom and get something to eat. I sat up, got out of bed, and did my business in the bathroom. I fixed my hair as best as I could and washed my face.

I walked slowly into the living room and spotted Cade in the kitchen making something. He looked up and saw me standing there and immediately stopped what he was doing to come over and pick me up and settle me onto his comfortable couch.

“How do you feel, sweetheart?” He asked softly.

“Better. Hungry.” I said with a smile and a tilt of my head. “What are you cooking? It smells good.”

“Panini’s” He tucked a stray hair behind my ear and kissed me before getting up to finish his cooking.

He finished making the sandwiches while I watched the ocean from the coach. He fixed my plate and we ate while talking about what happened last night. He said the driver of the other car was on drugs and felt the need to play chicken. The driver of the car ran into another car and was taken to the hospital for his injuries and then taken to jail.

He made a face when he told me that the whole car chase and crash was recorded and posted all over social media and the news channels. The doctor came by and checked on me after lunch. She told me to continue resting for the rest of the evening and night and that I could resume some small tasks the next day. She expressed the importance of not doing too much, too soon. She wanted me to relax the rest of the week and weekend and cleared me to return to work on Monday. So I had 3 days of resting scheduled and I didn’t have any idea how I was going to stand being idle for that long.

We spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and trying to recover from our injuries. Cade had some bruises and soreness from the seatbelt and airbag but was otherwise fine. It was nice to spend a lazy afternoon with him and it was a damn shame I was in pain the whole time and couldn’t really enjoy it.

We Sunday binge watching the latest must watch TV shows. I was cleared to watch TV on Saturday. She warned not to do things that required thinking. I tried to do what she said but it was hard to lie around doing nothing even though I felt terrible. It was nice to spend the day watching TV, talking to Cade, and pretending there was nothing more exciting going on in our lives than the usual blend of work and media interviews. Our normal might not be what anyone else considered normal but it worked for us. We didn’t know anything else. I wasn’t looking forward to the time when our schedules would battle for dominance.

We ordered a pizza and relaxed. Throughout the day, I had felt the sexual tension building like fog. It creeped into the smallest things. Watching a show with a sex scene made me squirm and flush. I couldn’t help but imagine finally having sex with Cade. I knew he would be as good at it as he was with everything he did. I looked over at him at one point, saw the expression on his face, and knew that he was feeling the same thing that I was.

With a boldness that came from knowing him and trusting him, I moved towards him claimed his lips with a kiss. He knew what I was doing and I could tell by the bulge in his sleep pants that he wanted me as much as I wanted him. We made out for a while enjoying the most heat of our tongues caressing and tangling together.

Without speaking, he lifted me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. We kissed all the way into his room and didn’t stop as we fell backwards onto the bed. We’d spent the last couple of weeks building up to this moment. We’d gotten to know each other and built a connection and trust. I had always wanted him, and knew that he wanted me, but delaying that and building our relationship before we slept together made this moment so much more meaningful.

He sat me up and pulled my shirt over my head. He groaned and murmured about how beautiful I looked and how perfect I was. I had never been more aware of my body and the affect I had on him. Each touch and caress was like a shock wave that I felt all the way into my core. I grew wetter with every piece of clothing he removed. We moved together building the tension and heightening every sensation with words of praise and adulation. Our hands moved in search of each sensitive spot. I pulled his clothes off and marveled over each new expanse of skin. He was a masterpiece. He looked sculpted from marble. I kissed, licked, and touched my way down his neck and across his chest and stomach. I sucked and kissed every inch of skin and I stroked and pulled at his cock. I watched as his head tipped back and his eyes slid shut a moan of pleasure spilling from his lips. I dipped my head down and slid him into my mouth. He moaned again and gasped my name. I marveled at the power I held over him. I sucked and bobbed my head up and down, pulling him as far into my mouth as I could get him. I combined my hands and mouth using everything in my arsenal to pleasure him.

He pulled me away when he couldn’t take it anymore and flipped me onto my back.

“It’s my turn now.” He said.

He ran his hands over my body causing me to shiver. He sucked on my neck and licked his way down to my nipples. He tortured my by touching me so lightly it tickled and made me gasp. He surprised me by dipping his head down and draping my legs over his shoulders. I was nervous until the first lick and then I couldn’t do anything but shake with pleasure and need. He followed my nonverbal cues knowing every light touch that would make me moan and sigh. He was masterful, playing me like he played guitar, knowing just the cords to strum. When I was close to my orgasm, he pulled himself on top of me and looked into my eyes.

“This is only the first of many.” He said. “I want to look into your eyes as you break apart. I want to feel your muscles clench around me. I want to hear the sighs and moans in my ears.”

He pulled a condom out of his wallet and put it on. I gasped as he entered me for the first time. The feel of him sliding into me was better than anything I had ever felt before. I didn’t know that sex could feel this way. So powerful and intimate. I had never had an experience like this with another person and it moved me in ways I couldn’t begin to name.

It seemed like only seconds passed before we were breaths away from climax. He turned his head so he could meet my eyes and watched as the first waves of my orgasm hit. It was hard to keep my eyes open when all I wanted to do was get lost in the pleasure he gave me, but instead I got lost in his eyes and the look in them as he shuddered in release. There was some kind of power in making a man like him come apart like that. Lost in the sensation of him and me together.

We laid together and caught our breath. After a few minutes, we each took our turn in the bathroom getting ready to sleep. It was so natural with him. No awkwardness or confusion. I knew he had felt just as much as I had and that it meant just as much to him. I knew because he told me with his touch and with his expression, and then again with his words.

“I’ve known you for such a short amount of time, Kat but it feels like I
know
you and you know me. That was the most amazing thing I have ever felt. Just as great as I told you it would be, if not better.” He kissed me softly and hugged me close in the big bed.

“I know.” I laughed. “I can’t wait to do it again.”
