              “I be okay Mega, until you start fucking with me!”

              “Yeah, whatever, yo’ ass be wanting to fuck too! Come on, let’s go downstairs and freshen up.” He pulled me off of the couch and led the way downstairs. While Mega went to the men’s restroom, I grabbed Kira to walk with me to the women’s restroom.

              “Kira, you brought any wipes with you?” I asked once inside the bathroom.

              “Bitch, you must have been fuckin’?” she asked and I laughed. “You and Mega need to cut y’all shit out…here!” She handed me some wipes from her purse.

              “I know you ain’t talking shit. Hell, you take wipes everywhere you and Rock go!”

              “Whatever hoe!” she spat.

              We walked back to the party and everything was quiet. All eyes were all on Kira and I. Mega walked to the center of the floor with a mic in his hand.

              "Come here, Mrs. Lady!" he ordered and I met him on the floor. I hated to be put on the spot and Kira had all of a sudden disappeared on my ass.

              "I first would like to say that I appreciate each and every one of you who came out to share this special day with me. Initially, I thought that this event was for this lady right here so I went out and bought her a gift. Even though this event was intended for me, do y’all mind if I make some adjustments to it?" he asked the crowd.

              "Do you, boss! " somebody yelled out and others agreed.

              "Okay cool. This is no longer a birthday party ladies and gentlemen…but our engagement party instead!"

              My heart raced as Mega reached in his pocket and got down on one knee. With the microphone in one hand and my ring in the other hand, he looked up into my teary eyes and smiled.

              "Will you marry me Mrs. Lady?" Mega knew damn well he didn't even have to ask me that question because he already knew the answer to it, but since we're doing things the traditional way I answered it from deep within my soul.

              “YES!!!” I screamed as Mega placed the most beautiful diamond ring onto my finger, and it was the perfect fit! The diamond shined so brightly that before one could even approach me, they would already know that I was taken. Mega stood up and I jumped in his arms as he spun me around. The partygoers were going crazy! Just when I thought the night was almost over it really had just begun.

              Things in my life were finally back on track and I couldn’t wait to touchdown in Miami and start planning this infamous wedding that was soon to come. This love that I was feeling was surreal. I had never felt this way about anyone before, not even Jamel. The feeling that Mega gave me was unexplainable, and I couldn’t wait for us to start our new life together.

              After the party Mega and I exited out of the front entrance instead of the back. We had sent the valet attendant to bring our car around to the front of the venue. Mega was standing behind me with his arms wrapped around me tightly.

              “De’Carlos Banks.” Four detectives approached us from behind.

              “Yeah, what’s up?” Mega asked looking as if he was ready to go the fuck off. Three officers grabbed his arms and placed them behind his back, as one of them stood directly in front of him and spoke.

              “You are under arrest for the murder of Simone Davis. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to speak to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during any questioning.”

              I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

              “Wait a minute, that’s my fiancé! What the hell is going on?” I yelled at the officers and Mega remained silent. Seeing me act a fool, Mega finally said something.

              “Chill ma! I need you to call my lawyer ASAP. My phone is in the car,” he instructed and they took him away and put him in the back of an all-black SUV.

              Everyone that was once walking to their cars to leave, were now standing around trying to see what the fuck was going on. Looking around, my car pulled up. The valet attendant handed me my keys and I hopped in. I called Kira and told her to give Rock the phone. I ran down everything that had taken place and he assured me that we would both go and talk to his lawyer the next day. Since it was the weekend, Mega wouldn’t be able to go before a judge until that Monday morning, and I planned to be there before the doors opened.

Chapter 33
NaTaysia

              Five months had passed since the judge had denied bail. They had accused Mega of Simone’s death because they claimed to have evidence that led to Mega’s warehouse, and found her DNA on his boat. I was sitting inside of Mega’s Range Rover with a protruding belly waiting for him to be released. That’s right, after dropping seventy-five stacks on a lawyer that convinced Mega to take that shit to trail, the district attorney dropped the charges for lack evidence.               See, the DA was hoping that Mega would go ahead and take a plea to avoid going to trial. Mega said he didn’t kill Simone, and he stuck by his word one-hundred percent. Now, I wouldn’t doubt that he did or didn’t but I really didn’t give a damn, I just wanted him home with me. Shit, we had a wedding to plan and a baby on the way.

              I laughed at his cool ass walking up out of that jail like Day Day did in that movie

. I hopped out the truck and grabbed DJ from the backseat to greet him. He jumped and clapped his hands with joy as Mega approached us, smiling showing the few pegs that he had developed since he was away.

              “Da Da!!” he said smiling and Mega took him out of my arms and hugged us both as if there would be no tomorrow.

              “Damn, I miss y’all!” He bent down and kissed my stomach.

              “We missed you too,” I said as he gave me and DJ a kiss too.

              Mega opened the door to the driver’s side for me to hop in, and he and DJ walked around to the other side of the truck and he hopped in the backseat with DJ.

              “You got everything taken care of Mrs. Lady?”

              “I surely do, all of our things are in Miami. We still have to get DJ’s last name changed too, but I’m sure we can take care of that down there. I’ll look into it. The only stop we need to make is over to Kira’s and Rock’s house.”

              “A’ight then cool. Shit, stop by Carters first. A nigga hungrier than a muthafucka. I hope Greg working.” I laughed as he referred to the best cook at the restaurant. Shit, if he wasn’t working there wasn’t no point in making a blank trip.

              Mega was getting down on that wing snack and corn nuggets. He had his extra-large sweet tea sitting in one hand with the food in the other. DJ was becoming agitated as he watched Mega demolish his food.

              “My bad lil’ man, here.” He handed DJ a piece of chicken that he had already eaten off of.

              “Mega, don’t give him that! He gonna get choked!” I told him.

              “Let me handle this back here Mrs. Lady, you just drive!”

              Rock and Kira were already outside playing with Rahley in her kiddie pool when we pulled up. I knew that this was going to be a bittersweet moment for us. Kira and I hugged each other and didn’t want to let each other go as we cried. Rock and Mega were laughing and shit but I knew they were going to miss each other as well. Mega was leaving Rock to run his business in Cuthbert and he would handle Miami himself.

              I was elated when I saw MeMe’s car pull up. I had told her that Mega was getting out and we were leaving for Miami. She got out the car with Jamelia and Mega walked towards the car and met them. He and Meme hugged each other and she cried like a baby. Watching them melted my heart because they were so close before their grandma had passed. It was good seeing them put the past behind them. We stayed until it was time for us to hit that road.

              “A’ight y’all, we ‘bout to pull out,” Mega said as we got in the car.               We all hugged each like one big family because we were.

              “Bye y’all drive safely! We love y’all!” Kira, Rock, and Meme were saying as we pulled out of the driveway.

              I couldn’t get rid of the smile that was planted on my face even if I tried. Mega held my hand into his as we made our way down to the Sunshine State. I looked over at him still smiling.

              “Thank you Mega.”

              “For what Mrs. Lady?”

              “For introducing me to that hood love!”

              We both laughed at that statement but I was dead ass serious. I just hoped and prayed that now he and I could finally have our happily ever after!
